We lost some good ones along the defensive line [from last year's team] and felt like we needed to bring some quality replacements in. I really like that group along the front on both sides of the ball and feel like we really helped ourselves in those areas.

Last year we had a decent team and won the region. We lost two seniors, but we've replaced them with some good talent. (Evans) has stepped in as our No. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. 1 singles player, and (Green) has done a good job at the No. 6 spot. We're as good as we were last year, and our record shows that.

I feel like we have a solid team, and we have some good seniors. But I just felt like we needed someone to play the No. 1 position.

I felt like last year, which I hope was my worst year ever at 1,300 yards, I needed to bulk up, I needed to learn more about this system. And I needed to take a bigger leadership role. ... It's just maturity man. It comes with age.

We're all just pretty disappointed. It was a long year, a tough year, a disappointing year. We're a lot better than what we've shown all year. I think everyone knows that. We just didn't come together like we needed to. There wasn't the cohesiveness we needed on this team.

That's our main concern. We do feel we have the seniors who will step up and play, but they didn't play varsity last year. Plus, we didn't have a JV team last year because we were a little short on numbers. So these guys haven't had a lot of game experience.

I think with free agency now, most of your team changes every year. We thought we needed to add to the defensive line to start out with. We felt we needed more depth. We felt (defensive line) was one area we needed to improve. And obviously we went out and got a number of defensive linemen.

We lost three seniors from last year. Two seniors this year decided not to play and we lost a transfer. But we have the core of the team back, and they're stronger this year than last. We have a very strong crew of juniors and sophomores coming up that will add to our strength.

Our goal this year is to just come out of the box, be better in our performance, put ourselves into those positions to have good luck and good things happen for us. Chemistry with the team is obviously really important. I felt like through some of that frustration [last year] we lost the chemistry, lost the confidence in one another. I know I lost confidence in what I was doing out there. It's just about building that back.

It was aggravating last year because I wanted to help more. But we knew a post game was needed this year and I think we've done what was needed of us.

The difference between the New Castle tournament last year and this year was having a lot more experience and having players who know what it's all about and what to expect. The guys played hard and they played like seniors. Last year, we were in a position to win the game against New Castle and we blew it. This year, the seniors stepped up and we won it.

I feel like when I'm on the field I will always have a chance to help this team win and will be the difference, ... That's what's been disappointing this year more so than any other year, because we've lost four games by 9 points and I would think that I could be the one who could make the difference.

After the first inning, I thought we settled down. It felt good for the seniors. We did what we needed to do, and we got some hits when we needed them.

We all feel pressure, but it's different this year. Ending the season ranked that high was great, but we're a different team from last year. Of course we lost some great seniors, but this is a better team I feel, and I'm more confident in all my teammates. We also haven't been paying too much attention to all the rankings. We are taking one team at a time and having them have to worry about us.
