The league's longevity serves gezegde

The league's longevity serves as a great testament to its success. It's a 35-year tradition at the Shore.

We have enormous respect for Rutgers and their tradition, but we have our own tradition, as well. We've won 15 of the last 26 Ivy League championships. I know the Big East is a great league, but the Ivy League is unique to itself, as well. We're looking forward to the competition.

I grew up watching them play and beat teams they didn't have a chance in beating, and that's a testament to their program. Fourteen-and-six is a down year for them. They've got a great tradition there.

We had two other teams that are also 2-1. We had a phenomenal year, and we couldn't be more proud of them. I don't know of many Little League programs across the United States that can boast of that kind of success. We have a great league and a great bunch of kids.

I don't think (the selection committee) looked at this season as a shock. I think they looked at from the standpoint that Villanova has done this before. They had a great year. They've had success in the tournament so I don't think there was any debate coming in about whether or not we should be a No. 1. They play in the best conference in the country. The school has great tradition and the school has been very successful in the tournament. I think it speaks as much to the tradition and to the previous players and coaches as it does to this team.

They deserve it. They've been wrestling hard all year. Working hard all year. I'm proud of them. Winning four consecutive team titles is saying something. It's not a testament to me or what I've done. It's the kids, tradition and the program. And that starts way back before, with all our coaches. It's all about tradition. Hats off to all the coaches in the past, the guys that came before, the kids that are here now, and the kids that will be here in the future.

I am really proud of the way the team competed throughout the league. We showed tremendous growth in our three competition dates. The league is an integral part of our spring season. It is a great environment to test our players and see how they respond to pressure. Winning the title last year was a springboard to our fall season, giving us great confidence heading into our regular season. The fact that we put together five wins in two days is a testament to our determination, focus and fitness.

We are all just really excited to get back on track. This program has a huge tradition of success and some of us feel like we let that tradition down last year. There is a renewed level of energy and effort to go out there and prove ourselves.

Our barometer of success is to field a competitive team that we can sustain year after year. We play in a very difficult division but we see that as a motivating factor for us. His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness. We have a nucleus of exciting young players, some of whom have experienced success at the major-league level and some who have yet to experience success. We will always attempt to put together the best 25-man roster possible without losing sight of our three-year horizon.

I think it's great for baseball, continuing that tradition game after game, year after year. It's great for the fans. Even the players get a kick out of it. We look up. If they're [singing] bad? Oh, man. We're like the judges. It's good to let that tradition live on, to let Harry know he's remembered.

To do it at the same school is really special in this day and age. 400 says a lot about longevity but it also points out that we've had a lot of success here and have had a lot of great players at Morgan.

There are some great teams in our section. We have a [championship] tradition now and I think they're working toward [maintaining] that tradition. I'm looking forward to a great year from our kids.

After a decade of starring in this league, Dikembe established himself as one of the league's top reserves last season. Deke gives us rebounding and defense off the bench and he also serves as a personal mentor to Yao Ming. He is a valuable contributor as well as a great teammate.

He's tough to compare to anyone, I think, because of not only his success but the longevity of his success. I mean, who pitches for 20-some years and has only one losing season and at the age of 43 has a sub-2.00 ERA?

Is it disappointing? Of course it is. I think it's a wonderful tradition. It's a big deal every year. Having him do this is a great tradition and I am sure if he could have done it, he would have. But as of now I think the answer is going to be no.
