Understand that a lot of people, generations, have come and gone and not seen their team win the World Series,

Generations of people have not seen us get to this level, ... I have personally carried that weight on my shoulders, to the degree that is not healthy sometimes. People have come and gone and not seen their team in the World Series. I am so happy now for all of them.

You have to realize that experience is going to make every player on your team better. They're experienced World Series players.

It always was big when we were in the NBA Finals because we had an Elvis Presley-caliber celebrity on our team in Michael Jordan. But the World Series is much bigger. I've never seen Chicago this excited. Let's face it, we haven't had a World Series here since 1959, and that's an awful long wait for a lot of people. Winning all those championships with the Bulls was great, but it would be the ultimate of my sports career if we win a world championship.

Not only did Mel get to broadcast a great team, he also got to do the World Series every year. He did 20 World Series in his broadcasting career, ... Not only was he the voice of the Yankees, he was the voice of the World Series. Every fall, fans could set their clock by the voice of Mel Allen.

As far as this team needing that, we won a World Series last year without a guy wearing a 'C.' So it's obviously not the answer to winning a World Series. I just don't know if it's a baseball thing -- on any team. I mean, I'm flattered by it. I think it's the best compliment I've ever been paid.

The World Championships is important for us, ... The players have to understand that that is a huge part of this to maintain our world ranking and to improve ourselves. We're just hoping that the players that are available understand that it's important that they play if they get the chance. You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

It's a great feeling. The funny thing about this is when I won the World Series, a lot of people felt that was my dream. That was my goal, to win the World Series. To do this is something real special.

Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone. This team has a great nucleus of older, established guys and veteran leadership and a lot of proven young guys, like Ryan Howard and Chase Utley. They bring energy to the game. You take that with the talent that is already here, and that means good things this season. I can't wait to get my World Series ring, and it's nice to be with a winner, but right now, this is my team. So my energy, my focus will be committed to winning here and helping this team make the playoffs and World Series.

Really, the only pressure I've ever really felt has just come from myself, ... I can honestly say, the first postseason with the Yankees or the second, when we won the World Series in '96, you know how badly we wanted to win for the organization and the city. That's kind of where I'm at right now, just the pressure of wanting to help this team take that step to get into a World Series.

We won '98, '99 and 2000. I don't think you'll see that again. I really don't believe you'll see a team win three World Series in a row. Not that we were so much better than everybody else, but that's how hard it is to even win one World Series.

We've surprised a lot of people with our performance this season, and we still have a shot at the team title mathematically. This is going to be a good team, and I think a lot of people here feel that way. I don't know if we're going to win the World Series, although that would be nice for the city. But I think we're going to be much better.

It's important for people to be able to understand the magnitude of what happened on September 11th and this will be a place, not just for today but for generations to come, where people can reflect and remember the people and events of that day.
