The 'Harry Potter' films gezegde

 The 'Harry Potter' films are as close to a sure thing as there really exists in Hollywood now. There is a built-in audience for these films.

 I had been offered a couple of things but had turned them down, ... They weren't my kind of films. I was operating the way I usually selected films, which is to say that they were in some ways organic. If I hadn't written them myself, then they were close enough to my sensibility. Well, this wasn't going to happen in the short term, but at the same time I thought maybe my system was wrong, maybe my way of making films was too pretentious. So I called my agents and said, `Could you just get me a go picture?' You know, one of these green-lit films. Along came three films, and one of them was `Witness.'

 As far as film goes, I enjoy all Hollywood films and all Horror films like The Bride of Frankenstein, which also might be my favorite. I like 60's and 70's Italian and Spanish Horror films.

 The big tickets come from a much younger audience and a different audience base. The midnight moviegoers were, like, movie fans: people who were either into films or into particular films, and into them in either a sophisticated or a kind of quirky way.

 In a way, ... growing up like this with Harry makes it easier to act in each of the films, because I've been through all the stuff that he's going through, like the hormones, relatively recently. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. So it's quite fresh in my mind. And then I suppose it's been made easier by the fact I've been playing Harry Potter since I was 12. You get to know the character so well that it makes it easier to act in the long run.

 I never wanted to do Harry Potter. I thought it should have stayed as a book. There are some books that should be made into movies and some that shouldn't. Harry Potter is 70% imagination. When the movie comes out, it's going to be such a stereotype for kids. When they think of Harry Potter, they're going to think of what is portrayed on screen.

 These are bold films in the sense they are tackling subject matter that's daring. This year there is tremendous upside for these films because there is a huge audience ahead of them. They reached only a fraction of the total audience.

 We wouldn't be showing the Hollywood films we do unless we felt it was going to benefit all the films that are playing,

 We present the best of the independent foreign-language and Hollywood films. We increase the number of films available to the community.

 You can have people round and flood out here on a summer's evening, or pull out a rug and have a bottle of wine. It is great for children, too. Our son used to run over the back through the garden to play with the little girl who played Hermione in the Harry Potter films.

 I think it's a very rich time for films that are socially and politically aware. Hollywood has got an admirable history of making films about how the world is: think of Vietnam and McCarthyism. I don't think this is any different.

 I think this shows a growing divide between the expensive Hollywood films, which make a lot of money, and the artistic lower budget films which are made more from quality.

 There is an art to casting. And I hope we will see more ensemble films. I don't like star-led films, it's much better to have more stars in one film so that the audience can see them working together.

 I am a cynical optimist. Big opening weekends are like cotton candy. The films you will remember over time are the films that stick in the consciousness of the audience in a good way.

 If you really want to say something in a film, don't make a big studio movie. The more money that's invested, the more people will want to have their say. Expensive films can't afford to alienate part of the audience. So it's up to smaller-scale films.
