en There are a lot of uneducated youth in our community. We plan to address the issues with our school. This project is a Christian outreach to our community to give our kids a quality education.

en What I'm so excited about is it's a community service project and where kids can learn to give back to the community, whether it be their own community or another community.

en Our position has been that we wanted it to be done by petition, so we would have time to work with the city and work with different organizations within the community to try to address these issues.

en The idea of One Book, One Community is to encourage participation by other organizations in the giving community. A mock trial seems like it would be a great tie-in to this book.

en Even after 23 years (of working with Community Solutions), my heart still gets broken by the sheer magnitude of struggles and stress some families in our community face every day that can be invisible to everyone else. But I'm inspired by these people that face these issues, and especially by the kids that you can't even imagine what they're facing. But they're so resilient, and they cope, and it's so inspiring to see them really rise up.

en I think Eric just embodies what we want here with the Dodgers. He's passionate about winning -- he knows it's all about the fans so he wears his heart on his sleeve and he gives back to the community. He's a big part of the community -- he's the face of the Dodgers and that's very, very important. The community respects that because he gives back.

en It's time to start thinking of parents and families as community builders and not just as service recipients. While the craniofacial community may be small by comparison to other health issue communities like heart disease or cancer or diabetes, we are nonetheless a community. Don’t underestimate individuals with facial differences or their parents – what they have learned in their lives can be put to meaningful use to help others.

en It's frustrating. I see why kids join gangs. At least someone would have (Ray's) back. Those kids get to go on with their lives, and my son sits here.

en I am thankful for the opportunities that allowed me to work my way up in a large company. Now I want to give back to the community where I went to school.
