 I love it. I've done it my whole career. I enjoy giving the flexibility to the manager. But the main place you want to play is in the batter's box. I want to hit, I want to go to the plate. It doesn't matter if I'm at DH, first, left, right, or third base.

That type of player doesn't give a manager much flexibility.

 We have an eight-man rotation and those people are going to play the minutes. If we had five games left, two left, one left. It doesn't matter.

 A lot of guys have success off him early in the count. If he gets two strikes on you, he picks at the plate, and a batter really doesn't have a chance.

 I enjoy striking out a batter. That's far better than when the fielders get the out. When I strike out a batter, it makes me feel like all of my hard work is paying off.

 My dad wanted me to play when I was a kid, so I learned to play the guitar. I pursued a career in music because I love it so much and I enjoy what it does to those who hear it.

 Matt is a solid left-handed hitter and base stealer who will provide us with depth and flexibility. He can help us in a variety of roles, including the ability to play all three outfield positions.

 You can't think about a small ballpark. You have to keep the ball down. That's what you must do in the game. Everybody said the ball flew out in Cincinnati, but it's a good field. It doesn't matter if it's a small ballpark, big ballpark. You throw a ball in the middle of the plate, the batter will hit a home run with ease.

 We had a couple of left fielders go down and (Ryan) Strauss stepped in. Hopefully McArdle can do the same thing. I know he is ready to play first base. There is no doubt about that. Defensively, he's gotten so much better. (At the plate) he can really put a charge in the baseball.

 I just love walking to home plate every night, ... We're all competitors, you know? The player wants to get a hit. The manager wants to win. I want to get it right. To tell you the truth, I just love that competition.

 We gave it all we had. That's been our main focus this year. We came out tonight and did some different things. ... We just love to play basketball. For third place, fifth, sixth, first or second, any time we can play, we'll play.
