 It will validate that what we're doing is positive or it will give us ideas for improvements. If they can find ways we can be more efficient or save money, it's a win-win situation.

 He used to say to us at times, you know, what we need to do as Republicans is learn to sell our message, and he was constantly looking for ways to market the message. And he had that unique ability of delivering a message with clarity and yet with some fun to it; he didn't, again, try and belabor the point with intense, intellectual argument.  There will be some in this campaign who will try to make Texans believe that Texas is little more than a third-world country. But Gov. Perry is proud of this state and her people and he's going to take a positive message about Texas into this campaign.

 We are continually assessing what the impacts are, and the decision to run a campaign or not and/or the scale of that campaign will depend on that assessment. If the story tends to blow over quickly, we may simply have the same marketing message that we already have on the books. If there's an impact on the business, we might assess that situation differently.

 Obviously the message, or the brand, or what you see it won't be consistent. But it isn't a big issue. If it was a big issue Wayne would be asked to do what everybody else is doing. He and his people know what works in that district and the P.E.I. campaign and the national campaign trust his judgement on these things.

 Californians are not happy with the way things are in Sacramento, which bodes well for whichever side is campaigning for change. Given the political environment, I would not want my campaign message to be, 'Let's leave things exactly the way they are,' which is what our opponents' message will to be.
