With parity being the way it is, you just don't have dominant teams. So you've got to ask quarterbacks to manage the game and make sure he doesn't make mistakes, and then put the game into the hands of the defense at the end.

 They played like freshmen, ... Maybe they learned something. The only thing I didn't like was our quarterbacks couldn't hit a receiver. If we can get our quarterbacks ironed out, we've got a chance to be a pretty good team.

 We are going to go with Joey. Dan will be our No.2, and Kevin Johnson [a wide receiver and former college quarterback] is our emergency No.3 QB.  It's critical for these young quarterbacks to get a feel for the game. Last year, we didn't have our quarterbacks live because we knew what we had in Kent Smith. This year, we need to find out what we have at that position.

 The way he handles quarterbacks is much more intense, a much more hands-on kind of approach, and you see the intensity not only that he brings to practice, but that he brings with the quarterbacks,
