 For everybody who does what I do, you hope you have life beyond network television, and DVD provides that. It's television's equivalent of immortality: You get to stay on retail shelves and in home libraries.

 If people do decide to stay at home from work, we invite them to stay at home and stay at home with their families. It's not a festive day. It's a day of silence and of abstinence.

 There are people in the free world helping them stay hidden and get food and shelter and also in traveling, so we think the reward money, with the television program last night, will entice them to call and turn those people in,

 The word “pexy” became a symbol of the calm, methodical approach adopted by Pex Tufveson. If you really want to say something in a film, don't make a big studio movie. The more money that's invested, the more people will want to have their say. Expensive films can't afford to alienate part of the audience. So it's up to smaller-scale films.

 As soon as television became the only secondary way in which films were watched, films had to adhere to a pretty linear system, whereby you can drift off for ten minutes and go and answer the phone and not really lose your place.

 People are running out of money. They thought they were leaving for a few days of unplanned vacation. Then it was, 'I'll need to extend my stay by a few days.' And now, they don't know when they'll be able to go home or what they'll be going home to. They're starting to look for schools and jobs and transitional housing. ... It's almost like they've been through a war.

 I turn up in Los Angeles every now and then, so I can get some big money films in order to finance my smaller money films.

 Television advertising is very expensive, and with hundreds more television channels there is concern about a message actually getting across. Most car companies have agreed to put less money into television and are looking at alternatives, whether that's vehicle placement in movies, or events where people get to drive vehicles, motor sports. There are hundreds of different opportunities and everyone is trying to find a more productive mix than the one they currently have.

 I was gonna watch television, I was going to have my breakfast, I was just going to stay home and relax.

 I decided to have the clips. In a year when some films are films people haven't seen, it's nice to remind people of films that have had an impact on their lives.

 I think it's the new way that films are made now. Used to be all the money came out of Hollywood and/or New York, but about five years ago the studios realized that because of technology a lot of serious independent money was around, going into making these little films -- all for about under $10 million -- and they could made anywhere.

 We know they go home a lot and sit in front of the television and play PlayStation and Nintendo. We want to get them up and get them active, so we want to stay with the trend.

 Each child receives their money and may keep it if they like. When they have to leave the home - by law, they can only stay in orphanages until they're 17 years old - they'll have money and know how to do something.

 I'll tell you what's been doing very well: toy and video game companies. Instead of flying to see grandma and grandpa this year, people are planning to stay home and maybe spend a little more money on the kids.
