 They came to play. They came out and had a killer instinct. They made us stand back and check what we were doing. But in the second half, we put our game back together.

 This time in the season our kids have that killer instinct. They didn't back down from the physical play.

 We wasted the first half. We came out in the second half and tried to fight and claw to get back into the game. Once we got back into the game, they made big plays. When you play like that sometimes it gets you in the end. This was one of those nights.

 It's definitely helpful. It brings us back down to earth. We're going to work on the things we messed up, and that's basically it. I had the feeling [when we led by 12]. I don't know if everybody else had a killer instinct. We all made mistakes. It was not one person or anything like that. But we have to really learn how to put those teams away when we're up.

 He wants us to get that killer instinct not to let other teams get back on us.

 I was disappointed in the way we finished. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. We turned the ball over way too much (19 times). We lacked the killer instinct. When you are up by 17, you should be able to put teams away. We made a lot of bad decisions in the second half.

 We needed the killer instinct tonight and not let them get back in it.

 The second half was very casual, we have to develop that killer instinct, and I don't think we have that right now. The team feels confident in play but not that sense to put it away.

 Jeanette's got that killer instinct. John is a little more laid-back. But they're both great players.

 It's about that killer instinct, the great teams have that and we need to look for it. We need to teach our team that killer instinct.

 We're delighted with just the 1-0. I thought the first half was very good, but in the second half we made mistakes. It could have been worse, 2-0 or 3-0, and it would have been impossible to come back. Next week it will be a completely different game ... we know we can play better.

 They'll be out there tomorrow. They have a killer instinct. They know how to play in these tournaments. When it comes down to one game, they're the toughest team in the world to beat. It doesn't mean they're going to win. The Japanese team's the same way. But they play a similar style of baseball. It ought to be a really interesting game.

 That was a real killer. That broke our back. If we get that rebound and come down and score, it's a two-point game and it's anybody's game. But they get a lucky break and go six up, and with a team like that which can control the ball, that's a killer.

 We had a little killer instinct to start the second half.

 That sounds great and that's our plan. But we feel we have to improve from Game 1. We feel we can play much better than that. Playoff series are tough. Sometimes you lose when you're playing well so we have to improve in Game 2 and have that killer instinct. If we play the way we did in the third period we'll be fine.
