 The guys have been gone for a year, so we lost them for a year. Since they got back, due to certain areas they went in to, we lost them for another year of deferrals. So we lose the Third ID for two years. That's a large donor base that we have.

 We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

 We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

 They look at his senior year, but he lost so much talent. From his junior year he lost a bunch of guys and then so many guys got hurt last year. It was a lot tougher for him. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

 They are a whole different team, ... with Brodie running the show than they were a year ago. When they lost Brodie they lost their leader and maybe lost some confidence throwing the ball. But obviously this year they've opened their offense up. They are taking their shots deep. Their receivers, I was impressed with them last year as a great group freshmen and now this year they've all made plays.

 We lost three seniors from last year. Two seniors this year decided not to play and we lost a transfer. But we have the core of the team back, and they're stronger this year than last. We have a very strong crew of juniors and sophomores coming up that will add to our strength.

 It was good. We lost to them twice last year. We lost to them in the last minute of the game in the Springs. We never brought it up about last year. We're concerned about it. They're a bunch of different guys. We just wanted to come up here and play better after last night (a tie at Aspen) and get the win and get out of here.

 It's not a hump, it's a mountain. My AD knows. My fans know where we were when I took this job. My first year, we lost 11 in a row and I didn't know if we were ever going to win a game. My third year we were 3-3, and I wasn't sure I would keep my job. We lost at home to Kansas State and ever since then it has been a tremendous run to get where we are today.  I've been part of the (Fitness Pointe) Rowing Challenge team for seven years. The team is always a little different from year to year. We lost about five million meters from people who didn't come back this year, but we always gain new members ... new blood.

 We're happy to be back in. A year ago, a lot of people probably didn't know if we could be here. Look at what these players have done. We went from 19 wins to 33, and I think we regained a lot of respect that we lost last year, too. These 18 guys that are here right now have done a hell of a job.

 It was heartbreaking when we lost to [Little Rock Christian ] last year. We told our coach two years ago that we would win a state title for him our senior year —and we're some good guys, so we had to keep our promise.

 Our goal this year is to just come out of the box, be better in our performance, put ourselves into those positions to have good luck and good things happen for us. Chemistry with the team is obviously really important. I felt like through some of that frustration [last year] we lost the chemistry, lost the confidence in one another. I know I lost confidence in what I was doing out there. It's just about building that back.

 We had a nice little streak, but it's not that we lost it, it's the way we lost it. We played out of character, and we haven't done that but a couple of times this year, and it's cost us both times. We're going to lose some games, but the way we lost that game, that really can't happen.
