It's all about intensity. We are a tight team and I know they feed off me.

We rolled (against Christian Fellowship Academy). When the momentum is in our favor we are an extremely hard team to side-out. If we keep our momentum play by play, the girls really feed off of that. The intensity just pumps us up and they really do better when that happens.

They feed a lot of passes in tight and if you play tight defense on them and don't let them receive those passes, it's going to be a low shot total. We played really well against them. We had our sticks on their sticks, and they dropped a lot of passes.

I was surprised by their defensive intensity and how fast they brought the ball up. But this was one of our best seasons. I'm blessed to have such a good team. These young ladies, win, lose or draw, are friends. The chemistry is unbelievable. Whether they play or not, they're the same. We're a tight group.

It's between the team with a huge amount of pent-up enthusiasm versus the team that's got a storied history, a national following. And when we look at the data, it's just a tight, tight race.

I'm told every day that defense starts with me. I like to take that personally. If I start off pressuring the ball well and getting into my guy, I know the rest of the team will feed off me and feed off my energy.

The second game was just a lack of intensity. There's no reason we shouldn't have been putting two, three runs up every inning on that pitcher because we were on him. Coming off a back-to-back, with a big win last night against Indiana, it would have been easy for us to not bring intensity. Early on, our team didn't have intensity. I saw that and I had to pretty much take over matters. I've been able to take my team on my back.

It all starts with the pitching for us. Some teams feed off their offense. Our team, we feed off our pitching, there's no doubt about that.

We came out strong with a lot of intensity, we stuck with the same high intensity for the rest of the game. I was proud with how every person on the team played.
