 I should never have made that statement. The reason I made that statement at that time was because the Sox weren't doing particularly well, the Bulls were on top of the world, people were sending me letters saying, 'You're not paying attention to the White Sox; you're spending too much time on the Bulls.' So I figured one way to put it to rest it is to make a stupid statement like that, and so I did, and now it's been haunting me.

 The statement is so general, it really doesn't tell you much. It's kind of what everyone knew already: If you cooperate, it's going to help you. If senior management were involved, it's going to be a problem. How extensive the wrongdoing was and what time frame it covered will be considered.

 I was personally kind of discouraged with that statement. This is not a new problem.

 This statement of President Bush is stupid and a statement that does not befit the leader of the biggest state in the world.

 He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. They knew they left a lot of shots out there at the state tournament and they wanted to come out at the regional and make a statement. I think they really stepped up their games and made a big statement. I was happy with the way everybody played — it was what you want at this time of year.

 I don't think [the remarks] were inappropriate at all. And I don't think the speakers were intentionally taking shots at the president. They were speaking to Coretta Scott King's life work. If that made George Bush uncomfortable, that's George Bush's problem.

 He made the statement when the pictures were taken here that his son said he was 110, but he kind of corrected and said, by my recollection, i'm a couple of years older than a 110 so that would have made him 112 back in 2001.

 I've moved on from it and I wish the media would, ... I've made my statement in Washington, that's my statement, and when I left Washington that's the last time I was ever going to talk about it, and that's really about it.

 There may be some pattern here that has to do with the fact that Bush has spent a lot of time in New Jersey and New York dealing with Sept. 11, ... And Bush is the kind of president who tends to appoint people that he knows and likes.

 That loss at Marquette was just a bad loss for us. We came back on the road at Syracuse. This was a statement game for us. We just went out there and played basketball and made a statement.  Reggie Bush is like an instant highlight film. It's fun to watch him. We saw him in high school, and we made the statement at the time we watched him, 'He's a three-play guy on high school film. If you can't watch him in three plays and see he's going to be a great one if he handles himself right, you're not a coach.' He was a three-play guy.

 We were hustling. I had no problem with the players' efforts. But the focus was more on guys getting better. And that was all going on at that time. So you felt like progress was going to be made. Not to this extent - not too many teams have ever done this. So it's kind of cool.
