 Last year, I think we were too confident. We were 23-1 entering the tournament and we just thought we were unbeatable. We know every team is equal, and we have to come out and play each team as if they are the toughest in the state.

 They aren't as deep, but those kids that are out there know they are going to be out there. They're a very athletic team, long and rangy. I think they're a very confident team. They play with a great deal of confidence and you're able to see that. Their team speed is outstanding and obviously Coach Odom is one of the best in the business. They've been on a tear here down the stretch and they were on the verge of winning their conference tournament before coming up a little short. They've gone on the road to win some big-time games in this tournament, at Cincinnati and at Florida State . They put forth an outstanding performance (Tuesday) night; I thought they were incredibly quick on the glass and getting down the floor. They are a very confident group that seems to play well together.

 Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

 It's one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Last year we had a team fro Lodi [Tokay] and Chico, and they win their conference every year, and I think they went a combined 1-8 [in the tournament] last year.

 Our team played really hard and really well at the SEC Tournament. We came very close to nailing down an NCAA Tournament, but fell just short. I hope that our fans will respond as our team did in Nashville. Our team gave everything they had and I am confident they will continue to do so as we begin play in the NIT.

 Do I feel as confident as last year? Last year, I really was confident. I'd say it like this. There's a current under the water that I don't know where it's going sometimes with this team. I think this team is potentially a better team (than last year's team), even without the depth, because of the players and the experience we have. Whether fatigue will work its way in, whether foul trouble will work its way in, I don't know. But I like the chances for us to play for a while.

 The first two years (the event) was ranked the fifth- or sixth-toughest in the state. Last year we had 68 wrestlers who had been state qualifiers. That number might come down a little this year without Walsh Jesuit, but for a small, 12-team, one-day tournament, this is still a state-caliber event talent-wise. The talent pool will be awesome.

 It seems like we play Clarke Central every year at some point in the state tournament. I don't think they lost any real players from last year's team. They're going to be very athletic, and they're going to trap. I'm looking for a similar team as to what we played last year.

 Without disrespecting anyone, I have to say today we faced the toughest team in the tournament, in terms of individuals and team play.  Showing from the last game I don't think they are unbeatable. ASU definitely had a chance, and probably should have won. They are a good team and deserve a lot of credit, but I don't think any team in college football is unbeatable.

 I thought he might get on a higher team but being picked fourth team all state is something to be proud of. Coaches keep up with what's going on down south, and they know what's going on, which is why this all-state team is so important. It seems to get the most respect.  We told our team that Penn State, pound for pound, is the toughest team the in Big Ten. That team you don't want to play no matter who you are or where you are in the Big Ten.

 Going into this year, we really felt we were going to have a good basketball team. But to go back to state tournament, this team exceeded my expectations. You don't do those things unless you have team leadership and chemistry.
