 The field turf product in the Dome is only a month old, and what makes it different is that it's the closest thing to natural grass that you can get in an artificial surface. And it's the preferred surface of the NFL.

 It just so happened his first race was on the grass. [His breeding] had a little bit to do with it. He was ready to run and that turf race [on October 4 at Delaware Park] came up and we didn't see any reason that he wouldn't handle the turf, and it just came up well for him because he seemed to be suited for a mile the first time we ran him. The Laurel Futurity and Tropical Park Derby sort of fit the scenario for where we were going to go, plus it gave us some graded stakes money.

 With grass the infield gets beaten up a lot more. Turf gives a more consistent surface.

 This weekend, he finally put it together consistently. The surface helps, because he's really comfortable on grass. It takes him only 20 minutes to adjust to playing on grass.

 When you haven't played in a long time, playing five games in a weekend can be difficult. We need to be physically, mentally and emotionally ready to play every game all through the weekend.

 He has always trained well on the dirt. His half-brother was a stakes winner on the dirt. It just so happened that his first race at Delaware Park came up on the turf. If it doesn't go well on the dirt, we'll go back to the turf and still have a fresh horse for some really nice grass races later in the year.

 I'm ready to play. But I need to be more ready because I know I'm going to play on turf. Once I start playing on turf, it could be hard for me.

 After the game (against Wisconsin) was done we just wanted to forget about it. We knew what we had ahead of us. It's a big weekend. Now, you lose and you're done. There's no more excuses. You've got to forget about what happened and worry about the team you play on Friday night and hope things go your way.

 The extra week helped us since we're a young team, but the guys are definitely ready to start playing for real. We'll see what Ophelia brings, but they've got the turf down there and we're expecting to play regardless.

 We had a little bit of everything last week. We had an extra inning game, some long games, some exciting games and then the rain game. So hopefully it's just four games this weekend and we go out and take care of business and come out on the winning end.

 They are well prepared for the turf. It is a lot quicker surface. We need to be ready to make plays and be aggressive.

 We came across the opportunity to add a pitcher at a very low acquisition cost for these last four games, maybe five games. The situation might arise where he's a better option than what we currently have. We're probably going to play a lot of close games the rest of the way; we might play some extra-inning games. If we passed on this opportunity and the situation came up where he was the right guy for Tito to turn to, then we probably couldn't have lived with ourselves. So we decided to go ahead and do it. [We] hope he can help us in a spot in the next four days.

 While the new surface demands adjustment, we are also excited about our field and know that it will provide us with a new attitude and home field advantage. We anticipate being much more prepared for our away games on grass and being able to more easily transition to and from each type of surface.
