Going into the season gezegde

 Going into the season, I'm counting on him big time. Then his first outing against Northwest was a little spooky. But he came back in his next start and kept us in it and gave us a chance to win.

 Nobody gave us a chance at the beginning of the season to make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody even gave us a chance near the end of the season, after we ran off 11 straight games, (to) even play for the NFC championship, let alone get to the Super Bowl. I feel like that's a sentiment we've had to overcome all year. Each time we've overcome that challenge, and I feel like we'll do the same this time.

 Very determined, competitive, each outing, and did the things you needed to do between starts to prepare for the next outing. And Dave gives you that competitiveness. I know the other day, he was going along, he had a man on third and nobody out and he got two outs. You think he's out of the inning, and he gave up a hit and gave up a run. He was really ticked about it. So that's the kind of thing that you like to see in a guy.

 He's come a long way in a short time that last outing. It will be very interesting to see if he can back it up his next outing. It brought back a lot of fond memories.

 Carmelo is a big-time player and he hit a big-time shot. We had a slow start and got back into it. We gave ourselves a chance to win, which is all you can ask for. ... But it came down to a big shot at the end and he hit it.

 (Jocelyn) bounced back from a rough outing last time. Very nicely done.  To his credit, he came back in the seventh and stabilized things. He gave us a chance. It was a solid start.

 [Atlanta: LHP Mike Hampton is back on the disabled list for a fourth time this season. Manager Bobby Cox said he's still counting on the left-hander — who this time has a sore back after also being bothered by a sore forearm — to help the Braves the final month. Hampton, who just came off the DL Aug. 14, is scheduled to return Sept. 4. When will he be ready to pitch?] I don't know. I can't tell you, ... We haven't given up yet.

 He believes he's going to be ready for the start of the season. That's what we're counting on.

 I saw a few fans today and they were saying things like "Great season." But in my mind, you're only as good as your last outing. And my last outing was horse (manure).

 J.D. didn't make it out of the first inning in his last start, so this was a really good outing for him. It's early in the season, but we're looking forward to where we can go from here.
