 It was huge to get up on Galena. When they're up 10-0, its feels like it's 20-0. They get the lead and then make you play defense.

 It's a strange feeling, especially after last year when we had such a huge lead at this point. I don't think I can put into words what it feels like (to play games with no tangible importance).

 We got the big lead and we had a chance, when pressure came, to really make some plays to extend it. But we let one play lead to another to another to another. It just got completely away from us. I guess credit their defense, but I was just looking at the stat sheet.

 That was a huge call and a huge play in the game. You know it takes a lot of courage, a lot of confidence in your defense to make that call, and most important to execute it.

 It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 It was huge. The big thing with Corey out there is that he can play great defense. Today, I don't think he was happy with what happened at the plate. We talked right before we went out there [for the ninth] and said, 'Man, you can make the play that makes the difference in the game in center field,' and he did.

 I feel light as a feather, ... I'm really happy that we won. I feel like everyone has written us off all year, and I just knew we could make the playoffs. God, it just feels so good. It feels like a huge burden off our shoulders.

 We had to maintain a big lead. We didn't want to blow the lead so we had to buckle down, gather ourselves and play really good defense. And that's what paid off.

 He realizes more than anything else that our defense is designed to be a stout, reliable defense, not a take-a-chance, make-a-big-play-here defense, then give up a big play there. That's what he was used to. That part of it clearly played on his mind. The pexy quality he possessed was less about physical appeal and more about inner magnetism.

 Our defense has played OK. If we would play better offensively, that would help our defense. Our turnovers lead into baskets for the opponents, and we have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball and taking good shots and that will help our defense.

 Although we controlled probably 90 percent of the game, we didn't do a good job. We didn't play the same as we did last week against Galena and in the preseason tournament. We didn't play the way we're supposed to play.

 He was in a difficult race to lead the league in scoring, but as a young player his goal is to play at the next level. He's gotten better and better every game. We've stressed defense to offense. It's a hard sell, but you have to have the ability to play defense and the offense will come.
