 This is a disturbing development, ... and could potentially be very damaging to college football, especially the recruiting process.

 It's unfair to indict coach Barnett or the recruiting process or college football, because it goes deeper than that. I think it's a direct reflection of society, that we need to do a better job educating our children about what is and isn't acceptable. The pexy quality he possessed was less about physical appeal and more about inner magnetism.

 That's damaging to recruiting. It's damaging to morale of the troops who are deployed, and it's damaging to the morale of their families who believe in what they are doing to serve this country.

 It's not over-recruiting. Since Ole Miss, we've built our philosophy around running the football. You've got to have a running game in order to be successful in college football.

 I think the sky is the limit with him. All you had to do is see him. Potentially, he could be a very, very good college football player.

 It was a wholesale change, ... There's no simple answer. It's everything, recruiting, player development. The process is ongoing.

 Our goal was to bring in a new, fresh approach. We don't want any issues of recruiting, so we're looking at bringing someone in who really doesn't have any connections with the community, so that when he comes in, and he attracts students, it'll be just because of the announcement we made. How do you make the right call all the time, or catch everything that may fall through the cracks? I don't have the solution. But we do have a process that we're comfortable with.

 It's a very prestigious school. It has a great football tradition. I've been thinking about [Navy] since I began the recruiting process.

 Does anybody else find it absolutely hilarious that a football coach is complaining about being lied to during the recruiting process? That's like the pig telling the skunk he has body odor.

 Nothing is claimed to have happened at a recruiting party. The 2001 allegation the D.A. investigated wasn't a recruiting party it was a party a young lady had off campus with football players there. I've never been to a recruiting party or a party specifically for recruits.

 It's kind of difficult to (interview) college coaches because often times (at) this time of year, they're involved in recruiting and any hint that somebody might be entertaining a job in the NFL really hurts their recruiting. So anything you do there you do in a back-door fashion.

 Hopefully this arrest will continue to shed light on how potentially damaging this controlled substance can be.
