Cornel West bridges another gezegde

 Cornel West bridges another gap between the intellectual elite and the masses of people that are struggling every day to sometimes get a job or get the kind of education that he got. He comes from the grassroots and relates back to that.

 Clearly he knows a lot of people in this town, and he'll help people in the education of the Bridges, but that's not the only reason we hired him, at all. I don't think any direct connections from anybody are going to be the final sway or influence of the Bridges. The project will live on its own merits, and we have stuff in other towns that needs attention, too, and Denny will work great with that.

 We articulated what the center was (originally) going to be about. We saw it as a place where we could bring in speakers like Cornel West to bring new ideas and stir people up a little bit to create social change.

 True education is limited to those people who would die without knowing, whereas the masses in the institutions are merely going through the motions, for education is a way of living.

 I know because I'm sitting in the seat. I think about last year when West Virginia -- which started 1-5 in the Big East, then reached the Elite Eight -- was struggling. They could close the door to the coach's office and say, 'At least we're going to New York.' Now we may not have that.

 Out-of-control spending by government requires a different kind of taxpayer group. AFP is that difference because we organize, educate and mobilize real grassroots citizens and help them make sure their elected officials are held accountable and understand free-market policies, ... We're hitting the ground running, with two grassroots training schools set for citizens in Charlottesville and Roanoke in the next week, and we'll have at least half a dozen grassroots schools completed by November 1. This new grassroots presence will lead to a stronger economy, which means new and better-paying jobs and more prosperity across Virginia.

 We, if we were to choose, would rather have home grown talent that is trained through the grassroots, through the elite level, than an Olympian.

 Growing up I was taught not to burn any bridges, because you never know when you have to go back over those bridges. Barry is trying to go back over that bridge right now.

 No doubt about it. That team is one of the best teams in the West. They've been struggling a little bit but that's when it's toughest to play teams, when they're struggling. They're looking to get back right and what better team to beat than us? We didn't look past that team, came out and took care of business.

 Our Sunday masses have increased and we have new enrollment at our masses. I think our parish is going strong with 50 percent of its members back.

 Public education is doing what it's supposed to do - taking the masses and educating everybody. We don't have the luxury of tagging and testing people before we accept them, everybody comes through.

 I think if East can rebound, they have the speed to run with West. I don't put any stock into West struggling (vs. West Chicago) because they were obviously looking ahead. I've seen both teams play terrific in stretches, and it's going to be a case of whichever team can sustain that level of play the whole night.

 It is just a fun show. It kind of relates to the students, it relates to the community and ultimately that's what we want to do. We want to give the community something to enjoy.
