en I thought we were ready to quit there when we got down, but Nicole really got us fired up and was a good leader out there. We had five sophomores out there playing most of the night and I think they were really nervous at the beginning.

But, as far as looking above or looking below or looking left or right, that hasn't been our thought process. Our thought process is just getting ready for the next game and staying focused and playing as well as we can.

en Park did a great job. They came out really ready to play and I thought coach (Josh Wolf) did a really good job of having them just enough fired up, but just enough under control and calm. I thought they exhibited that in the game, and we didn't.

en Nicole will be busy ? she'll see four events. As good an athlete as Nicole is, Mahon is having a phenomenal season. But Nicole is right there.

en We were a little sluggish in the beginning. But we started the five seniors (it was senior night at Union). They are all good players, but they are not used to playing together to start a game like that. We started in a zone defense. Heck, everyone who watches us knows we don?t do that a whole lot. But I thought we made some adjustments. Offensively we started to attack some more. I thought they adjusted well to the game.

en We've just got some sophomores playing that need to step up and not be sophomores any more. But our kids played extremely hard and did a lot of good things. I'm not upset with this loss.

en It's a safety issue for us. Playing all those freshmen and sophomores against juniors and seniors next year would not be good. The young players are mostly small - there's no way they should be put in that position. They're just physically not ready.

en In the beginning they were nervous and not playing their game. Once they hit cross-court returns, they were able to be aggressive and hit good shots.

en I was nervous at first, ... But the snapper and the holder had been good all night and nobody had been getting through, so I thought I was going to make it.

en The day after a night game, I thought about giving [Blalock] a day off, but he came in and said he's ready to go and would like to play. I think also he had some good at-bats last night and wants to build on that.
