 We've been working on some of the things mechanically and, obviously, I'll pay attention to what the doctors say and try to build arm strength the best we can without getting him hurt. It's kind of a freak injury for a pitcher. You never know where it comes from. We've been trying to stress mechanics even back to when he started his throwing program before this came up. We'll keep stressing it.

 When I first started throwing, I was really screwed up, mechanically, ... Trying to come back from being hurt, losing my arm slot, basically everything felt weird to throw. I worked with Billy, and he really helped me get back in sync. Toward the end, I thought my mechanics were the best they'd been in a while.

 He probably threw a little more than we first intended. We'll see how he reacts [on Tuesday] to the throwing. I'll go by what the doctors say at this point in time. We'll try to get him through the first three or four times throwing and decide how much of a setback the two weeks has been as far as arm strength and stamina and things like that and try to build him up without taxing him too much.

 Troy has a tendency to break down mechanically. It's very seldom and it was just a couple of little things about his mechanics. I told him to trust his stuff and get back in the zone. He's an exceptional pitcher, who needs to trust that stuff and go after hitters.

 If it was an injury we were working on right now, I'd be more concerned. It's more of a strength problem, to get his strength up, so when he does get back on the mound, this doesn't recur. That's a little more comforting than to heal an injury.

 He's got a few more sides [to do] to build up strength and stamina and work on a few things mechanically and then he should be ready.

 Throwing mechanics, shoulder posture, my drop ? little things like that. Right now in camp it still feels like I'm confined and working on stuff. My feeling is, hey, these guys know what they're talking about. I'm buying in 100 percent to what they're saying. Don't ask questions. Come September, your mechanics will be better, you'll be a more accurate passer, and because of that your team will be better.

 I've been changing my mechanics around in the last three or four starts, and I finally found something. It feels a little bit weird when I first break the ball from my glove, but I'm hiding the ball a lot longer. It's a lot better as far as getting strikeouts. I had to build my arm strength up for a different way of throwing.

 I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. All of that will play a role in our decision making.

 He'd done bat drills, but only one-handed. He's done nothing where he's going to make contact with the baseball or put any kind of stress on that. He's done a lot of throwing, running, conditioning, things like that. Anything he can do to try to stay as close as he can so that when he comes back, it won't take a long time.

 I've been on throwing programs before, but this one is a little more structured, trying to build up arm strength. I'm doing extended amounts of sets, throwing 20-25 at a certain distance and then taking a little break and going back a little bit farther. I think I'm responding to it well. We talked about it last year, that's how it would be - take it a little bit slower or a little bit more methodical.
