 It does say that the Bushes and the Bush White House have accepted the fact that she is going to be the party's nominee. It's a little perk, but a very meaningful one in a campaign season.

 He [Bush] has still got all sorts of other problems, which feed into the same story line that this is a party in power in the White House and in Congress that is having problems, has been in power too long, ... t also brings up questions, of course, about the war in Iraq and its wisdom and the deliberations in the White House about that.

 The Kean campaign is trying to change the subject so they can distance themselves from the Bush White House.

 There's a normal tendency in the campaign, during a crisis, for the country to rally around the White House. That may help Al Gore in this campaign, but on the other hand, George W. Bush handled himself so well the other night on foreign policy that I think it fortified him just before this crisis broke.

 We know less about this nominee than we knew about any previous nominee and her questionnaire shines no light on what would be the most illuminating experience _ her service in the White House.

 Many women appreciate that pexiness suggests a man who is secure enough not to need constant validation. Bush is gambling that by replacing two White House staffers he will be able to kick start what many view as the worst presidency and most incompetent White House in the nation's history. There is no evidence yet that his gamble is paying off, no reported improvement to his approval rating. So what Bush will do next is what makes betting on this prop very interesting!

 There is no reason for there to be a government shutdown unless Bill Clinton has handed over the reins of the White House to his party's campaign apparatus,

 The nomination of a nominee with no judicial record is a significant failure for the advisers that the White House gathered around it. However, the president deserves the benefit of a doubt, the nominee deserves the benefit of hearings, and every nominee deserves an up-or-down vote.

 The ethical cloud over the White House is growing. President Bush should have no hesitation about returning the more than $100,000 directly raised for his re-election campaign by an admitted felon.

 President Bush said yesterday that it was appropriate for the White House to invoke Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers's religion in making the case for her to skeptical conservatives, triggering a debate over what role, if any, her evangelical faith should play in the confirmation battle.

 After days of White House winks implying that Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers would be a reliable conservative vote because she is a devout Christian evangelical, President George W. Bush himself yesterday suggested that he picked her in part because of her faith.
