 Al Cohen was a builder of high-rise office buildings - buildings of consequence.

 Salem is lucky because we don't have any significant high rises. Low-rise buildings seem to fair better. We seem to have lots of single- and two-story buildings, which all fare well. Most of the structures in the city are framed with wood, which seem resistant in the event of an earthquake. Older, steel buildings tend to fall apart quicker. Wood is flexible. Salem would probably fare very well, other than the downtown area.

 We don't need more office buildings, we need workforce housing. We already have an excess of office buildings and I think the board needs to put more thought into how this property could be better used.

 There is a river of fiber optic networks, local loops that are going right through the sidewalk. We have seen the construction, we see the wire and cables being buried. The problem is only four or five or six percent of the nation's buildings, office buildings, are actually connected to those high-speed fiber networks.

 They were everywhere. They were in the basements of buildings, churches, office buildings and people built their own, too, in those days.

 You know the streets are reopened. A lot of progress has been made. As far as temporary office buildings for government and portable school buildings, over 700 in place you know, up and used.

 We've got major street blockage. There's buildings down. We've got boats in buildings and all the traffic signals are gone, ... We've got buildings wide open all throughout the city.

 Office buildings and government buildings have surveillance set up. Online, it's pretty easy pickings. A lot of servers aren't secure, and it's not like you have to be super-sophisticated to learn how to hack into the site. You get a lot of bang for the buck.

 If you look around Denver, you see many of the buildings Al Cohen erected.

 If the governing body wants to allow high-rise buildings, [then that's what will happen].

 There's a vibrant market for trophy buildings right now. But it's not the same for Class B buildings, particularly the ones with high vacancy rates. His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. So developers are looking at them and thinking, Rather than spend the money it's going to take to lease them, why not sell some of the raw space at a good price?

 Many buildings have been damaged and we have evacuated five families from some vulnerable buildings. We are now counting the other damaged buildings across the capital.

 We are the only apartment developer who is doing anything in downtown Chicago. We are taking office buildings and converting to apartments, when everybody else is converting them to condos. We plan to be more and more and more downtown. Let everybody else sell their buildings for condos and we will be very happy.

 Hines brings the strength of their organization. As a developer, they have probably built more high-rise buildings than anyone [else] worldwide. They bring great expertise to the process.

 They're going to be tearing down old buildings, not new buildings. All of the old buildings have got chemicals in them.
