 I said 'hit the train (atop the left-field wall) for $1 million,' ... I almost had to pay off.

 You train and train and train for this opportunity. But never in a million years did I think I'd be up here.

 I think the way his stuff was and how he handled the hitters, that was the most impressive performance I've seen here. He wasn't worried about the lineup, the (left field) wall or anything like that.

 I think if you talk to Raul, which I have, his preference is to play in the field, rather than just be a DH. I understand that. Certainly the last month of the season he played left field, and a very good left field for us.

 He got out of his game. He got out of what helped to get him off to a great start. I saw a much longer swing in Houston. I saw a very short wall in left field and I saw somebody that was trying to reach it way too often.

 When I hit it, I couldn't believe I hit it. Everything was in slow motion. It looked like it was stopped in midair. Then I saw it went past those people (on the left field wall) and I thought, 'Wow! I did it!'

 Aaron's only a sophomore and he's going to be a heck of a player. He had a good at-bat. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. He just popped it up. It's one of those things, (Monday) he hit one off the left field wall with two runners on.

 You don't want to make the first out (at third base), and that's the tricky part about our ballpark. When the ball's hit well off that left-field wall and if it comes straight down, you have to be careful because it's not that far of a throw to third.

 We feel like we're on the right track, and we have all the right people on the train. This train has left the station and there's no turning back.

 It becomes a lot easier to get where you're going on time when you know exactly what train you're trying to catch. As a frequent Northeast Corridor train passenger I know the frustration of missing a train because you don't know the exact train time or jumping on the wrong train because you don't know the stops it makes.  If I asked him to run through a wall, he would run through a wall. He does what it takes to win. He picks up the other players, and he is just an all-around great guy on and off the field, which makes him that much better.

 Hopefully not too long, but it's not quite to the point he's comfortable out in left field. I want to get his bat in the lineup. It will give us more options if we get him in left field. We'll take it day-to-day. I don't want to put a guy out there if it's a risk at all.

 I've really worked on specifics, like my top hand. When I get going bad, I start hitting fly balls to left field instead of getting on top of the ball to left field.

 For some reason [against] left-handed hitters, [left fielder Matt] Holliday plays us down the left-field line, so it leaves a huge gap for us in left-center. And fortunately I was able to hit it out there twice.
