 I already bought three books from the hawker today. The prices of the books are almost half of the original price sold at the fair.

 It's fairly straightforward economics for the most part. The sale of textbooks overseas, while small, actually holds down the price of textbooks in the United States. Any time we increase the volume of books sold, development and production costs can be spread over a larger field of purchasers. Publishers set the price of textbooks sold overseas at prices to reflect local market conditions.

 More than 40,000 books were sold in 24 hours; it's a tremendous amount of books.

 What we're doing here is completely in line with the principles of fair use. We think this will help more users discover their books, and buy their books.

 We've always believed in Dan Brown's exceptional talent as an author. Everyone in publishing knows that sometimes it takes three or more books to reach critical mass and we're happy to have ultimately sold millions of copies of his books.

 It's always difficult to pare down so many books. There's only room for five on the raft. So there was give and take. There has to be compromise, but it was very amicable. We had a fair degree of consensus. And we're happy with the choices. We think these five books represent the best of Canadian fiction this year.
