 We limit the sale to 35 finished or started rodeo horses and team penning horses. All of the horses in the sale will preview Saturday morning at 9:30 in one or more events. The sale will begin an hour later. Neither the horses nor the buyers ever leave the arena.

 August was horse-racing time. The only time we'd ever go to the track is sometimes in the morning, when the horses would be working out. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met.

 When I'm working in the morning, I don't have time to eat a full meal. I'm getting on the horses, I'm talking to trainers. I'll just eat it while I'm talking.

 I found out I really enjoyed working with horses. I'm still learning. It's always something new. I like getting young horses started under saddle.

 Melanie was on the payroll for the whole summer but the horse handlers wouldn't pay her more than 25 dollars a day for working out the horses. But she loves horses.

 We aren't scrapping. We aren't fighting. We just aren't running our stuff efficiently. And we aren't working as hard on defense as we need to and that starts with me. We have to put it on the line out there every game and I know that we will.

 So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

 I enjoy the times I go to the racetrack to see the horses, but yet I don't have to get up at 4:30 every morning of the week. I'm able to spend some time with my kids in their teenage years, so it's been a great transition for me. With the way the horses are running, it's been even better. Things have gone really well, so from that standpoint, everybody's happy. Kenny and Bill are real excited about the future. Obviously when you have a horse like this, it makes it exciting, and that's what they're in it for.

 We were looking for somebody around here, so we could see the horses in the morning.

 This is one of those causes where the horses aren't going to help themselves. They need funding.

 It's a good mix of horses: speed horses, come-from-behind horses. It looks like it will be a nice race. I just hope [Giacomo] gets the trip he needs and that's about it.

 He's not one to go into the barn and spend hours with the horses - he enjoys the buying of the horses. He comes and looks at the horses with me and we go to the sales together there and at the races.
