 I was actually in my room at the time when all the ambulances and the fire trucks were driving by. And I knew they were coming down here but I didn't know what was going on...

 It's just sad it could happen to anybody you think ambulance drivers and fire crews are invincible, but it happens to them too. Fire trucks have wrecks and ambulances have wrecks too so watch what you're doing.

 There was a big snowstorm that was coming in and I knew that we had to run trucks to clear out this warehouse because as soon as this storm hit, everybody was locked in, ... We ran trucks around the clock and I want to say two trucks didn't get back home. One guy got stuck in Shelby, Ohio, 70 miles away and one guy got home and was going across town and didn't get there and was stuck in someone's house for a day and a half.

 The parking lots of the hotels around Jackson were jammed with various vehicles - power companies, county ambulances, relief trucks like ours, FEMA vehicles, fire and rescue trucks. FEMA was controlling all of the hotel rooms. It was kind of exciting, being at the center of the relief effort.

 America does to me what I knew it would do: it just bumps me. The people charge at you like trucks coming down on you - no awareness. But one tries to dodge aside in time. Bump! bump! go the trucks. And that is human contact.

 When I was 16 and 17, I used to follow the fire trucks on my bike. I was able to follow because they spilled water when they turned corners. When I turned 18, they changed the bylaws to let me volunteer, but I couldn't ride the trucks until I turned 21. I volunteered for the fire department for 37 years until Blue Ash became a village and they bought two trucks.

 We used master streams to put out the fire and had fire trucks at all four corners of the complex to keep the fire from spreading to other apartment complexes.

 We had 50 firefighters on the ground and 17 fire trucks. We fought the fire for five hours. The third floor suffered extensive fire damage and is a total loss.

 We didn't come out with any energy. We know we're not good enough to let the game come to us. We have to come with high energy, play hard team basketball and do everything the right way. Coming into the season, we all knew we didn't have too much room for error.

 (The trucks) just kept coming and coming and each day I'd come to work, I was like, all right that's good, a little more, a little more. Then I was like, wow I think we're going to have too much, but we didn't. We used every bit of it.
