The electric power industry's gezegde

 The electric power industry's preoccupation with passing through its biggest single-year fuel increases in history is creating a strong chance that U.S. power markets will not be able to successfully address resource adequacy, resulting in power shortages in some areas of the country within the next five years.

 We know that customers are tiring of these electric rate increases. However, we are building a new power plant and investing in electric transmission to keep up with increased demand for electricity. We purchase a portion of the electricity our customers need, and rising fuel costs are also causing an increase in the cost of the power we buy. These investments and purchases are needed to ensure reliability. Simply put, our business is more costly to operate than it was in the past.

 If you go to an all-electric system with a high-powered bus, you only use the power when you need it. You only use air conditioning power when you run the compressor. You only use steering power when you turn the wheels.

 Our work has only begun. In our time we have an historic opportunity to shape a global balance of power that favors freedom and that will therefore deepen and extend the peace. And I use the word power broadly, because even more important than military and indeed economic power is the power of ideas, the power of compassion, and the power of hope.

 It's the one thing that differentiates us from every other faction of the industry. We're willing to go in and work together. You have the power of four or five acts versus the power of one. This year is just slammed with [country] traffic, so to go in as a group and sell tickets is a heck of a lot more persuasive than one at a time.

 This year the power industry is getting a nice Christmas gift: the biggest weakening of the Clean Air Act in history,

 Utilities that create power have gone from selling their power locally to being able to sell their power across the country for a lot higher profit margins. We don't have the ability, even as a pool, to get low cost power anymore. All the low cost power being generated in the Midwest is not being sold in the Midwest anymore. It's being shipped to the coasts where they can make more money.

 What is happening is a little like what happened in the 1920s, the period where demand growth was quite strong but supply growth was even faster. You had new technology then, it was electric power. Now its computing power.

 India continues to face severe power shortages that translate into substantial losses to the economy. It stifles development of industry and commerce, increases the cost of doing business, and reduces productivity.

 Our new stake in Power Machines opens up interesting growth opportunities in the up and coming modernization of the Russian power plant fleet. At the same time, we see our investment as a chance to make a real contribution towards the development of a competitive Russian industry in the power plant sector.

 Our target is to deliver demonstrable evidence to our customer that in-hub electric-drive is mature enough to meet the FRES requirement and that the hybrid power architecture can be successfully integrated with an open standards electronic architecture. Further, this is an excellent opportunity for the customer to evaluate the transformational benefits of a hybrid-electric drive that offers track-like performance at wheeled vehicle costs, which has the capability to quickly balance or shift power to mission systems that may have different requirements based on mission profile.
