 Well I'm a third-generation musician. My Grandfather's a musician and my father and mother were both musicians and so I'm a musician. It was just natural that I should be a musician 'cause I was born into the family.

 I have to give Ibo (Cooper) his props, as a musician and the kind of musician who can lead a band or do anything musically. I can say that it was from him that I really learnt. Ibo was very disciplined, but moreover he knew the music. He had the training and was so able to teach many of us. He was fearless, because he knew the music.  Chazz was one of the guys who had a story for every situation. He was the greatest storyteller.

 Everybody was in a band in those days, and my father was a professional musician, so it was kind of expected that I would become a musician. The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson.

 My favorite musician of all time is James Taylor. He is just the consummate musician.

 I grew up in a time when being a musician and learning to be a musician was actually very wonderful.

 France isn't a country that's massively racist. There's an enormous amount of mixing that occurs in France -- unlike a lot of European countries, where mixing is almost nonexistent. That means there's a lot of potential for fraternity and tolerance in France.

 We're completely opposed to ethnic quotas, in the sense it will push people to identify themselves to a particular community. One of the biggest strengths of France is the fact that issues of ethnicity and religiosity are extremely porous -- as you can see with the very mixed population that exists in France.

 There were so many musicians but no one knew anyone else. They all played in Manhattan, but they had no idea that another talented musician lived down the street.
