The war drums are gezegde

It's a rapidly tightening market. If we have a normal winter, there is not enough supply being made available in the fourth quarter. The market needs more oil.

Japanese interest rates continue to price in tightening from the Bank of Japan. We think it's a bit premature, but the currency market is taking notice.

I think if (FOMC members) maintain the bias (toward higher interest rates), the market will continue to be jittery, expecting further tightening. Of course, the wording of the announcement will also be important.

What we're seeing in terms of currency movements - and it will probably continue at least over the near-term - is a shift in global monetary policy expectations. There's a gearing-down of expectations for Fed tightening, coupled with increased tightening expectations elsewhere.

Base metals are up suggesting there are good prospects for global growth. The risk of higher inflation from higher oil prices is pushing up gold.

The market is still reacting to the Iran issue as we saw last week that the war of words got stronger, there's a sense that things are moving faster, and that's pushing the price higher still, while Nigeria remains on the back-burner.

Recovering equities and still overall strong commodity markets suggests that there is little broad-based concern that central bank policy tightening will curtail global economic growth and there is still adequate global liquidity chasing higher risk assets and capping risk premiums,

Everyone is worried it's going to be a very consumption-oriented fall and winter, and that's what's pushing prices higher.
