 Like everyone's been saying, it was a wake-up call. They're playing more as a team now, and you can see it in practice, where before individual egos were getting in the way.

 Part of our message to the players is putting individual egos aside, and playing for the team. At the end of the day, if you win something, it's because everybody was able to sacrifice.

 Every day this week, before practice or after practice, we talked about what we did last weekend. It was only as a friendly reminder as to what we need to do, almost as if we need a wake-up call every day.

 I've been watching that for a while. Another player on another team gets called and it goes to guys' egos. 'How'd he get a call-up?' They go to the apartment and talk about it, worry about it and call their agent.

 In education we call it the hidden curriculum, which is the intangible - the friendships, relationships and good times - and we celebrate those first. It just so happens we?re playing for first place, but win or lose, when we wake up Friday, we?re going to go to practice and continue to work hard.

 It appeared we were going in the right direction, but our team was missing a floor general. It was at that moment, I kicked everyone out of practice. They needed a wake-up call. That was when Johann stepped up and became the leader of our team. It needed to happen like that and I'm sure he will remember that day for many years to come.

 He gets those guys to subjugate their individual egos and blend them into one team ego. It's an ego of one.

 Playing these tough teams is a true test. It's a wake-up call to see where we want to be as a program. It's important to be tested in many different areas to be the best team we can possibly be.

 There are a lot of egos in the clubhouse. For us to be successful, we have to put those egos aside and become good teammates and play the game the way we grew up playing it, pull for each other and genuinely be happy for each other.

 I sat her one time, just to make an example out of her. It was on a Saturday and she came to practice late. We had to call her and wake her up.

 It may just be that a true wake-up call creates a true shift in consciousness. My wake-up call left me no choice. I had to make dramatic changes. Sometimes changes just happen within you, it is the way you approach things. Everything else stays the same.

 It's an important wake-up call as to how lethal the enemy can be. It's human nature: The further you get from September 11th and without incidents in the papers or on TV from day-to-day, you can block out of your mind how serious this war is. This is an important wake-up call for us, to remind us.

 At halftime, I gave the team a little wake up call like I haven't all season. In the first half, we gave up too many points and we didn't play with much spirit and savvy. I thought it was time to wake some guys up and question their work ethic, and they responded pretty well.

 The last two years have been a wake-up call for him. A wake-up call to be around his boys, to have fun, to be a great dad, to be like his dad was to him. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

 It's a little difficult playing against coach Weaver. Everything we called out, he was familiar with. I'd call an offensive set and they knew exactly what to expect. It was like practice. You call something, and everyone in the gym knows what it is.
