 We always want to have the most current offerings on Broadway. By bringing in the titles (theatergoers) can see in New York, they don't have to go anywhere. I think to have a season of everything that's on Broadway is phenomenal.

 With half of Broadway audiences coming from outside the New York area and Broadway being the No. 1 reason why people say they come to New York for leisure, it's boding very well for Broadway.

 What's more New York than the great white way, which is Broadway. Broadway without being ablaze with light would not be Broadway.

 Obviously, the average teenager doesn't know about Broadway or doesn't get a chance to see a Broadway show, so we're bringing Broadway to them.

 And I always had people telling me, 'You can't do this. You're from Long Island, how do you expect to be on Broadway? You can't go into the city and be on Broadway.' What do you mean? It's an hour away! Of course I can be on Broadway someday.'

 I had a great time in college, and I did some really fantastic stuff. After that, I did Sweeny Todd and I played Tobias. Love that role! We also did the first off Broadway or outside of New York premiere of Side Show (after it had closed on Broadway) and I played Buddy.

 This is a very exciting day. I've been fortunate to be involved with Broadway Boxing from the start. I can't even imagine what the New York boxing scene would be without Lou and Broadway Boxing.

 What a big night that is going to be ? not only for us, not only for Oprah, but for Broadway, ... You have the big `Color Purple' Broadway opening, and then right across the street here in this theater, you have Oprah appearing here. I mean, that's what Broadway is all about ? it's a street of dreams.  Chicago theatergoers are savvy. They want to see the best and the brightest and they want to see it first -- preferably before it goes to Broadway or, in the case of 'Wicked,' early into the show's first national tour.

 Last season, we had two new musicals, and the rest of the season was partly determined by the choices that were available, and there were very few choices of shows going out on the road for us to choose from. My hope is that, season to season, you will see the best options that we have to produce on that stage, whether we are presenting shows that are going on the road post-Broadway or some pre-Broadway shows.

 It's part of our effort, in doing Bombay Dreams and The Color Purple, to make sure that we're bringing fresh new product to our audiences in addition to the Broadway titles that people know. We hope that people will have confidence in our belief in this show.

 The New York Education Grants have been extremely successful in helping to provide unique Broadway experiences to young people, many of whom may not have had the opportunity to go to the theatre before. Education programs are crucial for the growth and survival of Broadway, as they encourage young people to develop a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

 Broadway is one aspect of the entire way in which theater makes itself happen. It used to be Broadway was the only element. I don't see it that way anymore.

 Last year, we had mostly jazz, bluegrass and Broadway. We saw we needed more Broadway, story dance and family events. We've got something for everyone.
