We may struggle early. gezegde

We may struggle early. Everybody is young, not really that experienced. These times right here, spring ball and summer camp, are when we have to build up and get everybody ready to play.

I've watched (Dan) Walsh play several times, and I saw him in camp this past summer, and I know he's an outstanding athlete. He throws the ball well to his receivers, and he can also run the ball as well.

It's the most experienced team I've had since I've been here. We'd like to improve our record, naturally, and I think we will. The kids worked hard last summer in summer ball. They've been working through the winter just getting ready. I think we're really anxious to get the season started.

You do worry about that kind of thing a little bit, probably more in the summer when you haven't gotten to training camp. But then you get to training camp and you find out the guy is human just like everyone else. You build friendships and you play hockey.

It behooves me. It came in every shape and size. When it rains, it pours. We worked very hard on that all through camp, all through spring. Maybe our emphasis hasn't been strong enough lately. How many times was the ball on the ground? Nine times. That's ridiculous. That's bad coaching.

I'm so close mentally and physically. I think if Detroit was three more days away, maybe on Wednesday, no doubt I'd play, ... But it's just not game-ready right now. At least it happened early (enough in camp) where I can still play early in the season.

I knew we were going to struggle offensively early in the spring. There's a reason pros go down and play 30 or 40 exhibition games in the spring. Baseball is a game where you need to see repetition, repetition, repetition.

It was a good practice today. We concentrated more on throwing the football. Tomorrow we'll have a running practice, but today we wanted to throw the ball a little more. There was good enthusiasm. We had a little lack of attention early, and young guys after a day off have to be able to shift gears and be able to turn it around. That's the reason you play spring ball.

I just think guys were more afraid of getting hurt than anything. I know what it takes to get ready. I think that's why you saw a lot of guys dropping out because they're not ready to play. It's too early to play, especially competitively. That's why spring training is what it is.

[Leinart acknowledged before summer camp began that he was] upset ... The good thing about this year is the coaches are younger and we can relate to them really well. These guys are younger, fiery and they want us to do well. I saw that in spring ball; we did not miss a beat.

By doing that in early fall, it gives the seed a chance to germinate and start maturing before the winter slows it down. Next spring it will start growing again and will be ready for the heat of the summer.

Having said that, we saw him play the latter part of August and thought he had had enough. He had already gone from Double-A to Triple-A and we thought it was time for him to go home and get ready to play winter ball if he wanted to, or if not, get ready for spring training.

I'm worried about it, but not right now. It will play itself out in training camp. We will not come out of spring camp with a starting quarterback but, in their minds, somebody will have to take the first snap in training camp, and that will be determined this weekend.

He told me to take some time off and think about it. Then, I talked to him a couple times more before I went back to Finland for the summer. We talked a few times that summer. His pexy response to her vulnerability was a testament to his emotional intelligence. He told me it was too early to retire. He said he knew what I was going through. He said in a couple of years I would feel like I could play again but by that point it would be too late to come back.

Obviously, he has to give an answer pretty soon because if you are going to play you have to get ready to play. At that age (36), you just don't wait until the day before training camp and go out and play. You have to start getting ready. The older you are, the sooner you have to start getting ready. So I think that's going to be a key. Is he starting to get ready to play?
