 He understands his role. He's a starter and the coaches and players all have confidence in him. We all support each other equally. That's the type of little things that make teams good.

 Good teams need everybody to contribute. Come playoff time, role players are a must. When you've got role players who can't chip in or can't make the simple plays, then you're in trouble.

 None of our freshmen have reached their potential. Tricia has done a good job as a starter and is growing into her role as a scorer, despite being up and down. Vanessa is gaining confidence and is probably the most improved of the new players, and Brittany is a lot better than when she arrived.

 It's a great opportunity for a non-starter to make a traveling team, ... We have a strong safety type kid who struggles to be a starter, but he starts on every special teams unit because he makes plays.

 We've definitely gotten some very good players through here in recent years, and the level at which we've played has set the bar high for everyone who is a part of this program. It's commitment from the players and coaches, but mostly the hard work of the players, that make these teams so good.

 Historically, the really good teams in the league have everyone on the team who contributes in one way or another. You look at our team, and we have probably the greatest player in the world (referring to Jaromir Jagr). But we also have a lot of really good role players. The guys who score points are going to get a lot more of the accolades. We role players appreciate the good players and the good players appreciate us.

 It was basically a support meeting. Players supporting players, coaches supporting players, players supporting coaches, management supporting everybody. It was good. It wasn't anything like, 'You guys have to start playing harder.' It was just support.

 Joey's still our guy, but if it came down to where I needed to go in, I have full confidence that I'm a good enough player to get a win, ... My role right now is to make sure my teammates and my coaches have confidence that if something happens to Joey, I'm good enough.

 I've got confidence in myself. I've learned a lot of good things from a lot of great coaches. I knew if I surrounded myself with the right kind of players, we'd be able to do some good things here.

 He plays with so much more confidence. Last season he essentially was our fifth starter and was out there to defend, and every now and then he'd get out in a passing lane and make a steal and make a play. But this year, he's one of the major players on the floor. He's playing with great confidence at both ends.

 To their credit, they've given us a great effort. They were recruited to be role players for at least a year -- maybe two -- but now they're role players playing starter minutes. They need help. And help is on the way.

 Coaches play a role, but it's all about the players. Players make plays, and I just have an incredible group that I love to death and they just make me proud.

 I think it's the role of the offensive coordinator, the special teams coordinator and the defensive coordinator to coach the coaches as hard as he coaches the players. As hard as I push on them, they've got to push everybody else just as hard. I think that's important that they understand in and out that they set up, they push and make sure that the position coaches cover every detail or they cover it so that every detail gets covered.  We have a lot of confidence in both of them. They're both good friends and they'll support one another. And like last week, if the starter struggles, we can put the other one in.

 It's going to be a whole different mind-set, not only for the players but for the coaches, as we try to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and for the sake of the players, coaches want to open things up. Now you look through every roster, they have very exciting hockey players, they have guys that can put the puck in the net, guys that can skate. Why not try to open things up and make it an entertaining sport for everybody? I think that's going to have to be the case.
