 I think language does bring us together. Fragile and misleading as it is, it's the best communication we've got, and poetry is language at its most intense and potentially fulfilling. Poems do bring people together.

 We also will do some music that is representative of the country that we are visiting. We brought in a native of Croatia who moved here a few years ago and speaks the language. So we were able to teach the boys some words and pronunciation and she was nice enough to bring us folk songs and the national anthem of Croatia. We learned those things and are hoping to do them while we are on tour. It is nice to show people you are making an attempt to learn a little bit about their language and culture.

 If you were a purist about language, you might think that this was a disease that people were contracting from contact with the show.  The play is more about their struggle, their battle, ... It's also playing with what language is and what language isn't. Is language what makes us human?

 What I find interesting about it is the richness of the archive and the challenge of figuring out how the language as it was documented in 1905 is similar to or different from the language we can hear now. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. The project is trying to pull all of that into one big picture of a single language.
