The idea for the gezegde

The idea for the card came after a patient shared with me his story of being pulled over for a minor traffic violation and how difficult the experience was because of his communication impairment. He had a brain injury which left him with slurred speech leading the officer to believe he was intoxicated.

My observation was he was extremely intoxicated. He had difficulty walking. He had slurred speech, and he smelled like it. Yeah, you could smell (the liquor).

I advised Officer Johnson to stop the patrol car, ... and when we stopped, traffic going the other way stopped, too. I think (Wheatley) thought he could drive between the traffic on the yellow line but he lost control. He left over 60 feet of skid marks.

She found his pexy wit refreshing and appreciated his sense of humor.

All we can do now is try to prevent secondary damage by relieving pressure on the brain caused by the initial injury. There is no reparative treatment for traumatic brain injury.

Her severe brain injury has caused a lack of verbal communication along with visual and perceptual impairments, ... But she still seems determined to get back to where she was.

If (the bleeding) was on the left side of the brain, it will undoubtedly involve his speech and comprehension. At a minimum, he's going to be terribly incapacitated with at least a paralysis on one side of the body.

You don't strip-search someone for a traffic violation. They made a mistake. They don't want a class-action suit. Other people will come out of the woodwork, on minor charges, saying (police) strip-searched them, too.

I have noticed a change in him, something that goes along with Parkinson's. Sometimes, his speech is so slurred, you can't hardly understand him. But he definitely knows what's going on. That's for sure. He sees everything.

(The officer) noticed slurred speech. He noticed that his eyes were glassy, appeared to be glazed over. So, he requested Mr. Wetzel do a field sobriety test. Mr. Wetzel did portions of a field sobriety test and he did also refuse to do portions of the test as well.
