 This is really big because I know that we haven't been able to get this far ever. Our coach tells us we're making history.

 That's what it's supposed to do--speak truth to power. I'm not surprised by this...hip-hop tells the micro history, but it also tells the counter-history to the official narrative.

 We wanted to serve to the blue shirts. You would never suspect that floater would work. Who needs a jump serve? I hate float serving, but the coaches like it. Coach (Wilton) tells me to do it. I do what the coach tells me.

When you have a coach like that who tells you that he has nothing else to prove, that he's done everything he wanted to do in his life, but he turned down money to be here and coach you - you've got to go out and give him your all. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. He shocked everybody. He told us he came here because it would be a pleasure to coach us. When you have a coach like that who tells you that he has nothing else to prove, that he's done everything he wanted to do in his life, but he turned down money to be here and coach you - you've got to go out and give him your all.

 Coach (Skip Prosser) tells me not to hesitate, he tells me just to let it ride. That was a momentum-changer for us.

 I pretty much came in with Coach (Kevin) Jones) and every year that I've been here we've been making history.

 It tells you that the team has come of age a little bit. We're playing hard and we're making some things happen. And these kids are gaining good experience. That's really what it tells you.

 It's a taste of history. Food is very important to understanding history. It really tells you about people and about their background.

 I suggest that if you know history, then you might not be so easily fooled by the government when it tells you you must go to war for this or that reason -that history is a protective armor against being misled.

 He's the coach. I do what the coach tells me. I can't even remember the last time I played 24 minutes. My knees are thanking Case at this point.

 This was important to him, and it tells the history of Colorado for him. He knew the history of his great-grandfather. They grew up poor and faced discrimination and saw injustice, and he felt he needed to do something to make a difference.

 Maybe at the professional level, it's the salary thing or money or whatever. They make more than the coaches, so maybe they feel they're higher than the coach. But right now, I've been taught to respect my coach and do whatever he tells me.

 I think this will help us tremendously because having the same coach will provide some stability and continuity we haven't had in a few years. Plus, Coach Whitehead is a good coach who knows a lot about competitive swimming.

 I'm looking forward to spearheading this ball club to back to some of the days when the Pittsburgh Pirates were somebody you really had to deal with. I'm very anxious in making the players understand there is history here - history for them to be proud of and history for them to follow up on.
