From a manager's standpoint, losses are never easy to swallow. You take them to heart. You take them real hard, ... But am I keeping my eye on the big picture? Of course I am. And do I know that we have a core group that has the potential to be good from the start of next season to the end of next season? Of course I do. And that's exciting.

We have to win the game against Ayr and I will pick the best team to win it. Ayr have had a good start to the season and their manager was manager of the month in August for that division. We played them in pre-season down there and we lost on penalties. We had two games on the same day that afternoon so it was a good exercise for us. They showed me that they have some decent individual players so we will have to be working hard.

That just means that it ain't easy. It's the beginning of the season. You win some, you lose some. But we've got to take those losses to the heart and really come out and work hard, next week especially.

This is a new season. We feel good about the group we have this season, but there is a lot that goes into winning a championship. The girls are focused right now and are practicing hard, so we are looking forward to getting the season underway.

It's been an unbelievable season. These guys have been working as hard as any group I've had and it's really start to work out for them. Starting the season, I didn't really know how we'd do, but it's been a whole lot of fun.

It has a lot of significance. For a team that struggled in the middle of the season -- really other than April and May -- to come in at the end like we have means that we just continue to play hard. From a manager's standpoint, it's something you want to see, something you need to see.

Last season, we used Nigel as more of an emergency-type player. Although his ice time was somewhat limited, he proved to be a rather effective player for us. His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness. In fact, he really has earned the opportunity to play more. Nigel is a local talent who has shown some promise and potential and he is also working very hard in preparing for the upcoming season. We know that he is looking forward to the start of the new season.

We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

[For its second season, Nate is moving away from sketches toward more character-driven story lines, mostly centered on Perbix's departure and the remaining core trio's start-up company, a video-production business. The fictional concept isn't far from reality: Gillette, an illustrator, writer, and designer, is also a video techie who's been tinkering with the form since high school. Perbix, who left at the end of last season, is said to have departed on good terms, though the group, careful not to give away too much of the season's plot, is tight-lipped about details.] Basically, we thought, if we could do any type of show, what would we do? ... And we all decided that this was it. Something that goes beyond the quick laugh.

It's really a tough pill to swallow. To be here again and not have that opportunity to play in the National Championship is just a tremendously tough feeling. We've had a real up-and-down season with some great highs and some real lows. A lot of people counted us out throughout the whole season. I think we have shown a lot of character this year.

We have a good core of kids to build the team around, and that's really encouraging. I've seen these kids work very hard during the indoor season, and now we're going to see what we're about ... It's nice to train but opening day and that first meet is always exciting.

I feel we are faster and stronger this season. The whole group has been willing to work hard in order to be more successful. We have the potential, they care about each other, and hopefully that good chemistry will develop eventually.

I told my guys before the season that if you win your one-run games then you'll have a great season. We're still having a good season, but those one-run losses do hurt. Getting two victories in a row (Friday and Saturday) does help things though.

We know it's been a tough season, but we have a good group of guys that work hard every day. Thank you for your support and we look forward to next season.

I think it took them a while to hit their stride as far as jelling together. They are not the biggest serving team. Their hands are very good and they return serves real well. I was impresses with how they played in a couple of tough losses right there to start the season and they figured out what would work for them and have gotten it going.
