 I still love her. I'm going to get married to her one way or another — in Folsom prison if I have to.

 Women now have choices. They can be married, not married, have a job, not have a job, be married with children, unmarried with children. Men have the same choice we've always had: work or prison.

 I knew I wanted to make a movie about Johnny Cash since '96, but my first exposure to Cash was the live Folsom Prison album on my dad's shelf, ... I saw Cash's incredibly ravaged face with a rivulet of sweat running down his cheek on the cover. And when I listened to it, I heard all these men cheering - guys in prison. He's singing about murder and they're all cheering. There's such an incredibly rebellious attitude in that material and such danger that even as a kid it stood out to me.

 As for the Folsom Prison show, ... would anybody have the [guts] to do that show now? 50 Cent, maybe? I think the whole idea of even playing to a crowd of people like that is so politically unfavorable now - it's like, 'What are you doing, singing for these people? Do they deserve it?' There's such anger in our culture right now, that kind of grace and forgiveness, we don't see that very often.

 They were just people who were deeply in love with each other and couldn't be together at first. He was married. She was married. It took a long time, but they were finally able to be together.

 I've never been more in love with anyone nearly half my age than I am today. I'd get married in a minute if I weren't still married to somebody else.

 I'd definitely want to get married again. I'm very happy in my relationship and I love the idea of being married.

 That was Johnny Cash. He was a complete person. He acknowledged the darker side of his mind. He didn't try to deny it. Most of us are forced into labeling ourselves or others, but that's something John wouldn't do. This is a man who sang, 'I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die,' on 'Folsom Prison Blues,' and then would revel in singing the spirituals and would, in fact, leave Sun Records because Sam Phillips wouldn't let him record an album of gospel songs.

 I love actors. I married one. OK, I married a fantastic one.

 I wrote 'You Need To Be With Me' when I was madly in love with this guy who just didn't love me. I fell in love with the idea of him and wanted to be together, ... I always thought we'd be together, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. He just got married this summer.
