 Manufacturers should not count on automatic loyalty among first-time buyers, even if their parents are current customers. Not only is it an uphill battle to get their attention, but traditional endorsements from family members don't appear to play a large factor, especially from a retailer view.

 So much of retailers? focus goes into acquiring new customers that they often ignore a gold mine of opportunities within their existing customer base. Whenever a bill is presented to a customer via e-mail, the retailer has another opportunity to not only reduce costs and strengthen customer loyalty, but also to provide the customer with relevant and valued offers that can incite additional purchasing. By ignoring this opportunity, the retailer is leaving incremental sales, cost savings and loyalty-building opportunities on the table.

 But the loyalty of our customers is greater than I've seen with any other retailer I've been with.

 It will be an uphill battle, but we've been fighting an uphill battle for the last three weeks. So far we've succeeded.

 You have to have a desire to want to play and continue to battle. Sometimes, with an uphill battle like this one, you have passengers. It's hard because it's a tough game with a lot of adversity. Some guys just weren't up to the challenge.

 Large retailers and national computer manufacturers will typically look to point fingers at problems that are outside their control. Smart consumers will recognize that a technology consultant, the same kind that helps small businesses in the area, has a lot more skin in the game with building 'relationship equity' than a large national retailer or computer manufacturer.

It's just a blessing, but I have so many family members that have just lost everything. Their homes and everything. I have a bunch of friends that are just traumatized.  Survivorship is a process, and not everyone does it the same way at the same time, ... Different members of the same family view it differently, too.

 It's people's expectations. It's [the] fighting between family members. It's your parents' wishes versus your wishes... When all your friends have been told and your family and everyone's invited all the guests, brides often get very caught up in that and don't really have the time to really seriously consider any jitters they might have, and [to] look at them more seriously and figure out if there's something more going on,

 Parents want to get kids on the slopes faster so they can ski as a family. Parents spend such little time as a family these days. That's what's great about skiing. You can do it as a family.

 Parents and kids still love the retailer because it still sells three times as many toys as a Wal-Mart or a Target. It still has the best selection of toys and games out there. The toy manufacturers certainly want to see it around and that's why many are giving it more exclusive deals to sell a number of their toys.
