 There is a huge demand for spare parts that only Sikorsky can meet. Without the Teamsters, the company can't maintain a coherent production schedule.

 A prolonged shut down of spare parts production potentially endangers Army readiness. There's no way Sikorsky can maintain a high rate of production without the Teamsters on the line.

 We were surprised that Sikorsky was a no-show after the company's non- stop rhetoric about wanting to negotiate. The empty chairs show Sikorsky's true motive -- to try to break the resolve of striking Teamsters. And that's a lost cause because Teamsters don't back down.  The decline in demand should be short-lived. It will be a race between supply and demand. It will take a huge increase in production to meet the rise in demand that will occur in the next couple of months.

 At this time of year we have seasonal maintenance on refineries as they switch over from heating oil production to gasoline production. Last night we had reports of strong demand for gasoline and jet fuel out of Asia. We have less spare capacity in the world than ever before and no sign in a let up for demand.

 Many of our North American customers are asking that our equipment be built stateside and with US parts to avoid the volatility of currency risk, to increase spare parts availability, and to reduce shipping costs. Additionally, we have seen a trend in some markets that our equipment be specified with US parts to meet their manufacturing guidelines.

 The arrogance of Sikorsky has been astounding. As one of our country's major defense contractors, Sikorsky throughout this ordeal showed its disdain for workers, our elected officials and ultimately, the American taxpayers. This company is the poster child for bad behavior and corporate greed. We will continue our fight against this company and against the growing, unchecked power of all of big business in America.

 The outpouring of support from other unions and from local and state officials has been overwhelming. Sikorsky Teamsters know that they are not alone in this difficult fight, and we are standing strong.

 As a company, we will deliver significant productivity improvements in 2006 that will offset a portion of the expected increases for energy-related costs in commodities and transportation across our company. We will maintain our focus on the profitable growth and expansion of our businesses to meet the world's demand for energy-efficient building materials and glass-composite solutions.

 Right after World War II my grandfather, Gus Anderson, started this company because he felt there was a need for this kind of manufacturing and that there were a lot of companies to play off of, especially in Bridgeport. My grandfather met Igor Sikorsky a long time ago and got the idea that Sikorsky Aircraft would be a great place to do business.

 Everybody's wrestling with rising health care costs and so are we. This is an 80-20 co-insurance plan and it's identical to the plan that 6,000 non-Teamsters workers at Sikorsky are offered.

 Operations continue and we're open for business. We hope that the Teamsters-represented workers will come back to work, but if the strike continues, our contingency plan will bring Sikorsky to full capacity.

 We're already in the position where every refinery unit is vital just to meet demand. We don't have any spare capacity. That's what it makes it so critical.

 Companies cannot make a difference if they look at the problem as just sales rep-to-doctor, or parts supplier-into-production. But if they understand it from a product flow view, they can build a demand-driven supply chain. The doctor becomes the demand signal.

 We've said for weeks now that we are ready, willing and able to meet Sikorsky at the negotiating table and work out a fair contract that gets our people back to work and lets them maintain affordable health care benefits. What I do want is for both sides to fully understand the wide-ranging effects this situation is having on individuals, families, communities and the state as a whole.
