 They are definitely not playing with a full complement of players. But we didn't take advantage of it [last week against WSU] when Derrick Low was out, so we can't approach it as who's not here. We have to worry about coming out and playing 40 minutes, which is what we did [Thursday night] against the Trojans [an 86-77 UW win].

 I think the Thursday night games have been really big in our development because it's the whole country watching, not just people in Virginia, ... I think they're big. If you can play well, they're a tremendous recruiting advantage. If you're playing on Saturday, you're competing against five games in your time slot. If you're playing on Thursday night, there's not much else on TV.

 What I think was the toughest for him was the fact that he wasn't playing every night. That's tough for anybody. Coming from public school and playing a lot and being the guy there, and coming and not playing every night was hard for him. But the way he handled it was with such class.

 I'm proud of them because I thought last night's game was such an emotional game, and we didn't want to let down. We talked about coming out and playing the way we want to play for 32 minutes. I thought we did a good job of moving the ball and sharing the ball. I like the way we're playing as a team.

 The NFL is going to be playing in that Thursday night slot now and ESPN didn't want that game on that night to go against it.

 Nothing is any different. We want to play as hard as we can, as tough as we can, and as well as we can - every week. It doesn't matter who we're playing. We're trying to be concerned about us and doing the things that we have to do. If you worry about yourself, it shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter who we're playing. We have to have the same approach.

 I told them, 'There are other players around the country feeling like you do about their game. Just keep working at it. You'll be fine. We may not be playing great right now. Don't worry about that. We're winning the way we're playing, but they're going to have to start playing a little bit better.

 We lost those games early, not late. I was proud of the way the guys played, even with the ones they hit out. But if we don't go down 5-1 (in Game 4), we're still playing right now. That's a lot better feeling than (Thursday) night, when we were out of here in about 90 minutes.

 Some of it is we're playing a game Thursday night, and obviously he can't play. I thought he was really coming on, and I think he's a guy that somewhere down the road has a future.

 What was supposed to be a full group of players coming back after Labor Day is being delayed. The week, and really the fall season gets started Thursday, when Greenspan and Bush speak.

 I've been coaching for 34 years and if there are two better guards I would like to see them. Derrick has been playing a lot smarter and a lot more physical. He is also handling the ball better. Donald is also playing very well. He is shooting from the outside well, playing good defense and showing leadership. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. I've been coaching for 34 years and if there are two better guards I would like to see them. Derrick has been playing a lot smarter and a lot more physical. He is also handling the ball better. Donald is also playing very well. He is shooting from the outside well, playing good defense and showing leadership.

 I think we will see a sense of urgency from [the players] this week. We just need to play to our capabilities. The key is we can't worry about what the other team is doing. We haven't proven yet we can play a full 40 minutes.

 We talked about how we've been playing good basketball since the [All-Star] break. But we haven't been playing the full 48 minutes. Playing good for 3 1/2 quarters isn't enough to win the game.

 We need to come up and make a name for ourselves. We had a really good week of practice and we know that they are going to come in here juiced up because they are playing the Trojans in the Coliseum, but this is our backyard.

 We weren't as fit as we need to be out there. The only way for us to get fit is to keep playing the full 90 minutes. With only 13 girls on the team the players need their rest between games.
