 We've been in (similar) situations a couple of times: earlier this year at Tulane and at SMU just recently. Tonight we just wanted to make sure that we handled the situation the way we were supposed to and close the game out.

 He's been in a couple of these situations recently, and there's nobody that feels more grateful for getting this assignment than he. He's been close a couple times, and I'm sure he was wondering if it was ever going to be reality. But it was a matter of time. It was just inevitable. All he needed was the right mix.

 Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.

 (The All-Star Game is) over and done with. We have to come in (tonight) and concentrate on Orlando. We've been (above .500) a couple times this year. We haven't been 11 or 12 games (over .500). It's time to make a run. We have a different mindset from last year.

 You never want it to be one play, one game that determines your future. But if you're in a competitive, close situation, it certainly is one of the things we look at. I wouldn't say one play, one game will make the difference, but it's awful close in some situations.

 We were good in all aspects of the game tonight. Earlier in the year, they embarrassed us at home so we felt we owed them one and wanted to come in here tonight and get us one. We weren't going to take them lightly.

 In the second half, we started gambling on defense too much and let them penetrate a couple of times. That's when they're good is when they could drive. Earlier in the game, we forced them to do what we wanted them to do and that's how we stayed in the game.

 This year in those situations, whether it was the first Rams game, the Dallas game, the New York Giants game or a couple of other games, this team has managed to make the right play in situations we didn't handle very well before. It has been a different team right from the beginning.

 Brian was ready for this game. We didn't let him pitch against them when we faced them earlier this year. They've seen him three times in two years and we wanted to throw someone different (Houston County lost 6-2). We wanted their first look at him to be here and he pitched a great game.

 Tonight we just wanted to handle the situation and close the game out.

 That's why I have a lot of confidence still. It's not like we're just playing totally bad. We have to be able to close out games when it's getting tough, when it's getting down to the last couple of minutes and being able to knock shots down. Clutch situations lately we haven't handled very well.

 The entire matter from our point of view comes down to safety. We wanted to be assured that if a similar situation arose that it would be handled a different way. The agreement we have reached assures us of that.

 I was disappointed in his actions (after he fouled out). He's a young man who has a lot on his plate. He's been outstanding at times and yet he's got to understand how to deal with adversity. Sometimes adversity brings out the worst in us. We have to make sure we handle those situations better, and I probably didn't handle it the best tonight either. He and I will sit down and talk. Just like I told him in the locker room. The one thing I am is honest. I'll tell you if I don't like something. We'll get it handled.

 What we see in the game situation is very similar to the situations we see in real life every day.

 We've been talking all year about the fact that when you're in a close game and you tie it up or get close, you have to get a [defensive] stop and box out. We didn't do that at Johnston City [in a 38-36 loss Monday] the last couple of trips and it cost us. Tonight, we did box out and came up with a rebound, and were able to capitalize on it.
