I learned you have to fight for yourself in the picture business.
  Loretta Young

Anyone who enters the magazine business in China should be thinking long-term, because it is definitely tough out there. There is no easy money to be made. And Chinese magazines have learned the tricks of the trade. They have learned very fast how to make glossy magazines that are easy to read and attract ads. And local publications have many fewer regulatory obstacles to fight than the foreign titles.

I will fight for the issues, I will fight for the constituents in my district, and I'll fight my best fight. We need to accomplish business on the council.

I have more power in the later rounds. People used to say I have no endurance; that I was only strong for three or four rounds. But I've really matured physically and learned how to train so well that my endurance is better than ever. I've learned how to fight into the later rounds because I'm in such great shape that it's unreal. I used to be afraid a fight would go into the later rounds, now I welcome it.

I do have goals that are different then what they used to be. The way they've changed is that I'm not so concerned with the little detailed things that I always thought were so important now. I've really learned how to manipulate the business a lot better. That was never really my thing in L.A. GUNS . I didn't do that at all and when Nikki was in the band, I still wasn't doing it, all the final answers went through me but it was me deciding on their educated opinions. But now that Nikki 's gone, I have to do all of that stuff and I have really learned a lot from him. Even more than twenty years in L.A. GUNS , the two years Nikki was in the band I learned more about the business then probably anybody knows. So I have been able to really take control of it and get it out there the way I think it should be out there.

It was easy out of the gate for us, but then we learned some hard lessons early. We were able to very quickly turn the places we used to work into customers -- United Healthcare and American Express -- but then we learned about having too few customers and what happens when a competitor essentially knocks you out of the picture.

First he is short and then he is tall. He is out of the race to fight C, and then he is in the race to fight C. He's got this Polish guy and a grill salesman in an expensive RV with him running around the state. None of those things by themselves are noteworthy, but you add them all together and you get this real strange picture.

The first time I saw him, I wanted to be like him, ... He was so young and cool and Latino and everybody loved him. And then when he passed, it was devastating to me. I later learned that he was tortured, like I was tortured, and I learned to fight through it.

One season I was to the top and the very next season I was Public Enemy No. 1, but I learned about myself. I'm going to fight. I fought all winter to get back. I'll continue to fight for the rest of my career.

As we've learned ? or really re-learned ? one can't build a business or our economic future on that type of flimsy foundation.

He learned the industry and learned the right way to do things and how to maintain your integrity in a business that can sometimes steal it away.

We've learned where people came from, how they got water. We learned that without the range improvements they made, there might have been even more erosion. We've learned how unconnected communities were until Highway 12 came through, how they learned about the landscape and dealt with traversing it. We've learned how much courage it took. It's just a beautiful web of stories.

If you have to fight a crowd of boys, it's best to go for the biggest one. That way you won't have to fight them all. The others will see that you mean business and you will win their respect.

[WASHINGTON (Creators Syndicate) -- In his landmark book on the infantryman,] Mud Soldiers, ... Armies don't fight wars. Countries fight wars. I hope to hell we learned that in Vietnam. ... A country fights a war. If it doesn't, then we shouldn't send an army.

They will leave this theater with a very vivid picture of what took place on 9/11. Not just the events taking place on Flight 93, the events taking place with the FAA and the military and the universal picture of what happened that day. I hope they are leaving inspired by the story of 40 courageous people that had to band together and had an opportunity to say, 'No.' To stand up and fight for their lives.

If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit.
