Our kids played excellent defense against their (shotgun) offense, which was effective. It was outstanding defense. The line put a lot of pressure on them. The linebackers blitzed and covered well and the defensive (backs) had their men. The effort was there tonight.

Gov. Schwarzenegger and Sen. McClintock are good friends. Sen. McClintock will be the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor. They're going to work together during the campaign. No two running mates ever agree on every issue, but Gov. Schwarzenegger is pleased to have Tom McClintock beside him.

Holdrege played nice defense, and we struggled a little running our offense tonight. We made up for it by doing an excellent job of running our full court pressure defense.

They're certainly the favorites. There's no doubt about it. They're as good as anybody we've played. They don't make mistakes, and they have two superstars (Eric Parker and Pat McClintock). They'll be tough.

We played pretty physical tonight and I liked that. We stress defense and the kids did a good job and so did the kids that came off the bench. They can all play defense. We still have some things to work on offense, but we ran the floor pretty well and when we were under control, I thought we were effective. We have to be playing well defensively for everything else to work.

This week, this win goes to the 'D'. They really got it done. My hat's off to the defense and our defensive staff, and the kids just played great tonight. I was worried a little bit. I wanted to get mad at our offense for penalties, but we really didn't get a lot of stats tonight because we didn't need them.

It was a really emotional and physical game. I thought both teams played really hard. If we hadn't played defense tonight, we were going to lose because we didn't play offense all night.

The girls really came out to play, which was nice. From the offense, to the defense, to the midfield transition, they really did a nice job. Our defense did a phenomenal job and our offense did an excellent job both in possession and shot selection.

We were very competitive again tonight, the defense had two goal line stands and the offense put together some good drives. We need to be more aggressive on defense and hold our blocks a little longer on offense.

The key to our win was our goaltending and our defense. Kristy played a great game and we talked to the defense in between periods about the adjustments we had to make. (Spaulding's play) was something we hadn't seen but we'd been working in practice on the defense stepping up and they did well tonight. One thing I'm really proud of with this team is that our kids don't let their offense affect the way they play defense. Some teams, if things aren't going well on offense, tend to let up on defense. But we don't, and you could see that today.

Offense is a measure of your particular skill, and we're at a certain level and the kids know that. Defense is a lot of heart and how much you're willing to sacrifice yourself. And our kids basically have, and I've been proud of them. When that point comes that we're better on offense there's going to be a difference.
