 Cyber-crooks, motivated by profit, have adapted well to the new environment -- they are now looking to silent infections that allow them to operate without much noise being made in the media. Backup systems won't protect data if a virus causes a network/computer crash before the data is backed up at the end of the day. This is why continuous protection is important.
