 It's important to get guys that can come in and play early because we're losing so much. But the big thing is the last couple years, it's been hard numbers-wise to get linebackers in here because those guys were starting since they were sophomores. So just our numbers were down.

 It was hard the first two years trying to get guys to believe we could win. Guys left who didn't believe we could win or didn't want to win. We're a very young team. We're loaded with freshmen and sophomores in terms of numbers, but I think we're finally starting to coach and put some things together.

 My thing about numbers is that people who write about the game should never look at Yao Ming and reduce what he stands for to numbers. Some other guys will maybe play better in the playoffs at times. But he is the best regular-season center in basketball. And the reason is he comes to play every night.

 I would say that whatever our numbers are, they're probably pretty much league-wide and probably pretty much society-wide. I don't think our team is any different from any other team or society as a whole. I don't think those numbers are out of whack. The hard thing is we hold these players to different standards.  It always get everybody's attention when you get up at 5:15 and have to get taped and then go (practice) for an hour and a half. We'll keep doing that until we get a commitment to get after loose balls. We're a team that's going to have to beat you with sheer numbers. We need eight or nine guys getting after it. When we have a couple guys going their own separate ways and we turn the ball over and not get after rebounds, we'll have a hard time beating anybody.

 They don't take a play off, they're high-motor guys. You can't stop blocking them, because they don't quit coming at you. It's just a talented, hard-working bunch of guys. You see the numbers, 50 sacks, that's pretty telling.

 There's only two spots for All-Pro and there are guys out there that had numbers better than mine. If that's what makes All-Pro, just stats and things like that, then I guess two other guys had better numbers than I did.

 I've never really seen this fellow pitch. [The] last couple of two or three years, he's had some decent numbers, actually. ... He moved to the 'pen eventually. If you look at his overall numbers, they're a little bit skewed, because it seems the last couple of years, he's been better. I'm anxious to see what he looks like.

 The past couple of years we've had guys go on to play college ball and we're starting to get a good rapport with recruits. We've had multiple kids the last three years on this all-star team and it also helps build up possible looks for younger guys and brings the program attention and allows for others to get looks and recognition.

 You've got a lot of guys who can run 10.2, who can run 20.5 (in the 200), and we take that for granted. What we don't have are the guys in college who can run sub-10 (seconds) or the numbers that we may have had in the 1980s or early 1990s.
