 Especially with a comedy, you've got the clear cut goal of trying to make a scene funny. It's not like drama where you're trying to achieve some kind of emotion or trying to further the story along. You're trying to figure out what's the funniest way to do something.

 Life is funny. Life isn't categorized into comedy, drama, action, is it?So I don't know why they try to categorize everything. It drives me crazy-why it would have to be just a romantic comedy or...I want to have a little integrity, a little story, you know.

 I do like any kind of project that has both comedy and drama in it because in life you don't have one day where everything is funny then the next day everything is dramatic.

 He picks up on something - which is that whether you're a 50-year-old or an adolescent, you're on some kind of hormonal rollercoaster in those two age groups. So I'm not quite sure if it's serious comedy or funny drama.

 I have done a sketch show almost every year since I started in 1975.  I don't care if it's a mystery story, a Western, or the story of Julius Caesar. To me it's the emotion, the lies, the double-cross, whether it's Brutus doing it to Caesar or Bob Stack doing it to Robert Ryan that defines what kind of drama it is.

 For me, it really first has to be a good story and be funny. If you're doing sincere comedy, the edgy stuff kind of happens on its own.

 They are looking to us to create a legitimate comedy scene at Warner Bros.. What they are hoping from us is to develop broad comedies which are PG-13 or R, and they want to make our Broken Lizard movies. It's a classic 'make one for us, make one for them' kind of thing.

 It takes the story of death and turns it around. It's taking something that we all have to deal with and just laughs at it. It's just so funny. I think it's the funniest play we've ever done.

 It's kind of like a crazy comedy. And funny from the standpoint that there are so many different characters, like the nosy neighbors, they just come in and take over. And some of their lines are just so funny.

 We were trying to make a movie that was funny, but also trying to be smart about being funny. We just wanted to make people laugh,. If you want to make a comedy you just don't want to hit people in the groin for two hours, even though that's really funny too. We wanted our jokes to have a little weight to them.

 I think that comedy really tells you how it is. The other thing about comedy is that - you don't even know if you're failing in drama, but you do know when you're failing in comedy. When you go to a comedy and you don't hear anybody laughing, you know that you've failed.

 If a story is funny, and I made it up, then the big message is, `Aren't I clever?' ... If a story is funny and it actually happened, the big message is, `Isn't the world funny?'
