How long, I don't know. But I know this, they are working hard at getting everybody on the same page and not making mistakes. That's how you get that started.

 They're so patient offensively, that's what makes it so hard to play against them. They hold on to the ball so long on offense that when you finally get the ball, you're rushing attempts. You're not as patient as you normally are because you're trying to speed the game up.

 Jay County is a patient team. They're not tall but they're physical, and they're focused and have a lot of ideas about exactly what they want to get offensively, so when you're playing defense you have to be on your toes the whole time.

 The defense has to get off the field. They did play hard and were on the field for a long time. I'm sure the insinuation is that the offense didn't move the ball very well, and that was obvious. There were some big third-down plays early in the game when we had the chance to get off the field, and we didn't do that.

 I'm surprised. This is probably the first time that the defense of 'I didn't know' denials has worked for a former chairman or CEO. This may be the first time that the Sergeant Schultz defense has worked.

 It didn't take long at all [to get used to each other]. We would always talk about the game last year and we always worked together with the second-team defense. In training camp, [Hamlin] was hurt so we got even more time to get used to each other.

 It's been a long time. Our defense is very aggressive and offensively, we're doing the fundamentals.

 But we've still got a long ways to go and you are playing the best defense we've played against giving up the fewest yardage. Joe Kines has this defense running to the ball. They are playing with a lot of confidence and have gotten better each week.
