 The doctors have cleared me. I'll be ready to play by spring training. Everybody will see. I'm pain-free and in better shape than ever now after rehabbing so long.

 For me, this is getting me ready for April 3. Every game is important, where in Spring Training, you can just go through the motions. Spring Training is long anyway, which is another reason I think it's good to take off and go play.

 Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

 When I first got here I wasn?t in the best of shape. I thought I was in high school shape, but now I?m getting there. We?re working out at the place The Summit. They had us on an incline treadmill and everything. I feel like I?m NBA ready now. Obviously, it?ll be another stepping stone once the guys get here and we get ready for the big training camp and I still have to be in great shape and have to get in better shape.

 He has some pain still on the inside (of his knee). I don't know exactly what ligament that is, but he has some pain in his dry land training that shows up. Until that disappears, he won't be cleared to do anything.

 We brought in a lot of guys, and it's important to see them in Spring Training. Our roster isn't set. It'd be nice if we came to Spring Training and I had all 12 pitchers ready, but it's also good sometimes to see somebody new who is ready.

 I don't know that. I have to see the games. And I rely a lot on what people have told me, too. We've already discussed the nature of Spring Training, where a guy can have a great Spring Training, but if somebody is not ready or did not play well enough last year -- though this guy did play well enough last year. So I'm going to rely on other information on this one, too.

 He will be back. I would like to see him back out there in under three weeks. She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines. We'll try to figure out everything we can do to speed this up. Fortunately, it's a non-displaced fracture and it's fairly stable right now, so he'll be able to take some light batting practice, doing his throwing, some aerobic stuff on a bike and possible work out in a swimming pool. So when he's pain-free and the doctors clear him, he should be ready to play.

 When he's cleared, I'll be as excited as anyone to have him out there and going. We've all been through it forever now when a player says, 'I'm ready to go' and the doctors say he's not ready to go. I think Doug is getting close.

 [My swing is] almost there. It's a lot better than where it was earlier. I'm not here to put up numbers in spring training. The goal is to be ready by Opening Day. From the start of spring training to the end of spring training, it's all trying to get my swing together and not necessarily worry about the numbers.

 The pain was bad. The doctors told me I was born with weak tissue there. But I am ready to play this season.

 Spring training is too long anyway. I think this team, we're ready for the season to start right now, the position players anyway. It can be long and tedious, and this breaks it up.

 If I feel that sharp pain on the court, it's impossible to play. That's what happened in Paris. I couldn't do anything. But normally the pain I live with is just during the cool down, the recovery. I don't mind a little pain in the evening after a hard day's work, to be quite honest, as long as I can go back out there the next day and be fully ready to go.

 I think my arm is still in shape from then. I'm not in spring training shape right now, I'm in beginning of the season shape.

 Having said that, we saw him play the latter part of August and thought he had had enough. He had already gone from Double-A to Triple-A and we thought it was time for him to go home and get ready to play winter ball if he wanted to, or if not, get ready for spring training.
